Rabbit Tales .... ( for pet lovers, long)
Comments (10)Lee, what a beautiful story. I am so very sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing Thumper's life with us and many many thanks for enlightening us about rabbits. Like Josh, I had no idea that rabbits could be litterbox trained. I always thought they just sat in cages, ate carrots and looked cute and cuddly. I'm sorry that Kresha had to go through making the decision to let Thumper go. I couldn't have made it without Neil by my side when we had to give our Chelsea up. I'm not surprised that you wanted Kresha to have Silverbell. You are such a dear, dear man. Neil and I are planning a trip to Apopka soon and we hope to meet up with you and Kresha while we are there. Take care my friend....See MoreHow to be an irate pet lover... getting home from my trip
Comments (8)Don't know if anybody is interested in this tale, but now I need a bit of advice, too :( I have seen her twice since her son told me what happened, and she keeps telling me that she is So Sorry, that KiKi was trying to attack her and the man from Animal Control, and that she doesn't know how he got out. She said that her children never came on my property while I was gone. Well, the shoes appeared that day and remained in front of the portico until I gave them back to her son; KiKi wouldn't attack anybody and Animal Control said that he was a great boy [the lady who got him drives by my house everyday on the way to work, etc and is familiar with my animals so she wondered what was up with me when he was brought in, noticed how he was doing, etc]. Turns out not only was her kiddo right by the portico, but his truly and awfully ill-behaved cousin was visiting him that day. And, nothing will ever explain why she didn't call my Dad's cell # or mine or leave a note!! What the heck am I supposed to do as she tries to 'discuss' this with me? She keeps stopping after she says he tried to 'attack her and her guests' as if I'm supposed to apologize, and I just kind of say 'uh' and walk about the garden. Any suggestions on what to say? I'm just so through with her I don't feel like discussing a darned thing and would rather her stay in her own yard. Civil, fine... but I don't feel like discussing anything more than the weather, you know?...See MoreUPDATE: great lake area newbie too revized check it out

Comments (11)I cried when I read that story. We have adopted all our sweeties...rather, they have adopted us. Each and every one of our pets, here and departed, have chosen us. I have never understood how people could do some of the things they do. I'm a big proponent of adoption, in both humans and pets LOL. I'm also in favor of adopting older/senior pets. They are usually the ones who are left behind because most people want puppies/kittnes or younger dogs/cats. The older pet will have their personality right out there. You know what type of companion they will be because their personality has been established. For the most part, they're usually housebroken and/or trained, and they are so grateful for someone who will love them and give them what they need, which is a sense of purpose. Our pug, Tootie, came to us from a rescue foundation when she was around 7 or 8 years old. We've had her for 3 years and we couldn't imagine her not being here. We just went through an illness with her, thought we were losing her, and our grief was unimaginable. But it wasn't her time to leave us, and we are so grateful to have another day, another week, another month, or another year with her. Hopefully more and if so, happy beyond words. Friends of ours have 2 Saint Bernards that they bought from breeders. They have a biiiig house, but do the dogs live in the house with them? Nooo, they live in the frickin basement. They let them out to do their business, and then back in the basement they go. Heaven forbid they let them come in the house and ruin their floors, knock over something precious, have an accident. I always ask them (and I'm sure they're tired of hearing it), "Why do you have pets? What's the reason? Would you like to live in a basement with little or no human contact for most of the day?". We don't go over there too much any more because we find we don't have much in common with them or their philosophies on life in general. I just don't get it. Neither do they or others like them....See Morepzelko
