Hot and dry out in my garden. I dug 3 clumps today for my sister and noticed that there is very little moisture in the soil. Need Rain...

On top of everything else, my internet server went down and just now came back up.

Well...Tom, I was wondering where on earth you were today!! Sure was missing your pretties. Man oh man do I love that Lavender Memories...that's one gorgeous dl!! And just look at the buds on CG! That's a Munson I don't have, but I think I really, really need it, don't you? LOL

mwheel: Congrats on 57 years! Impressive! Krista Marie: How's the life of you as a single gal going? I was dragging a bit this morning... on account of last night... I was so groggy, in fact, that I forgot to make espresso before I left for work, which made it even worse! I laughed as I cleaned up from our little party. I had to send an email to the four mommies who brought their families saying that I found a couple of forgotten items while I was cleaning up. Specifically: a silver bracelet and (ahem!) a pair of handcuffs. The handcuffs were left by my neighbor's son, but we all had a giggle over it. Steve is ramping up a major travel jag. The poor man is going to be racking up a stupid amount of frequent flier miles in the next few months (on top of the stupid amount he already has). His company was recently acquired, and he's working hard to ensure the new people understand what a resource he is. Apparently, they do, because they want him to be everywhere. I can't complain too much: I'm cashing in some of his miles in November to join him in Nice, France for a week. I still don't know what I'll be doing all day while he's in meetings, but my French is respectable and I've been there before (20 years ago) so I'm sure I'll figure it out between now and then.

So happy to hear you were able to plant a rose bush without pain and without pills. Just don't overdo. Went to the wholesale shrub nursery - 6 gardenias; 1 Star magnolia, 1 flowering quince (funny the things I miss), 1 Miss Kim lilac, 1 Longwood Blue caryopteris. I planted 12 gardenias - well actually I dug up six and moved them and added 6. I had planted 12 small ones across the front of the house last year - 3 each under each of the soon (I hope) to be erected arches for the climbing roses. Its not winter that kills gardenias it is big guys with big feet and a bag of 10-10-10. The ones left had increased in size enough that they are pretty safe from big feet, so I bought larger bushes and am trying again. Other than that I pruned a bit and dug up onions (we have such a crop this year) and watched the bluebird Mr. and Mrs. fly in and out of their house (our first bluebirds). Went to see 300 and then caught the special on the History channel. Nice weekend if a bit cold and windy here. With daylight savings time I can get in an hour after work most days.

At least I get to see Silk Road and South Seas the way I want them to be here in our garden, but this year has been terrible for them. I didn't get to see Silk Road bloom since I was gone, but the stalks weren't very tall and they didn't fill out the way they usually do. Didn't see South Seas bloom, (gone) because it doesn't like heat, evidently produced very little in the way of bloom. Thank goodness for your pictures, and South Seas and Sweet Isabela are my favorites here. Your yellow lilies look good, too. Avedon

Haven't counted this year, but last year Simply Sensational had a bud count of 30 so needless to say I love it. Kay--Reason for Treason started off with thrips damage. Thank goodness it's come around because I love the look of it and it's a good performer. Belle of Ashwood is new and I know I should be taking off the scapes. Anyway I love it and hope I haven't set it back too much.

They are all gorgeous, I like Lady Neva best. I will have to look for Munson, it is a late bloomer? Mine are coming to the end and bemoaning is what I'm doing LOL. joela

I really like Scatterbrain, not sure why I don't have that one. Lavender memories is gorgeous! I've got Lady Neva, can't wait til it clumps up better, it always has nice blooms. And whoa, look at the buds on CG!

The Dark Red Georgia is hot! I love the brightness of it. Buds buds and more buds. You will get soooo many pretty blooms from that one. Your pictures are great!!! Thanks for sharing, Mona

Your DLs don't seem to mind the dry soil at all! Just goes to show how tough daylilies are, at least the established ones.
