I did a few hours on saturday between breakfast and lunch and again on sunday to cover a similar sized area.I probably could have done it all in one day. It wasn't really tiring or hard, just time consuming. Every once in a while I had to clear out the tines because they got clogged but that was about it. I wasn't sore afterwards except for some blisters. Didn't even notice them while I was getting them. Wear gloves. I wonder though, if your problem isn't more about poor grading rather than just compaction. Is there a particular low spot where all the water winds up at? Is your whole lot a low spot for the neighborhood? When water pools like that I think it makes the compaction worse. All that water weight pressing down on the soil. If you have a muddy lawn 3 days after the rain I think your problem is more than just compaction. Take a good look at the grading. Make sure it directs water away from the house first, then make sure there aren't any areas where water can collect the way you describe. After you aerate you should topdress with compost otherwise the holes are just going to fill in mostly from the surrounding clay. You might need to bring in some topsoil too if you have grading issues. It may not even be your soil, it could be what's under your soil. I've read things about hard pan, where there is a very compacted layer under your topsoil that can cause problems.

Radon will decay naturally in say a reservoir, and that's why people with city water don't usually have to worry about it. But, I think youÂd need a very big tank. The before and after testing I did on my water revealed that the filter removed 99.7% of the radon (43,000 --> 120 pCi/l). To get that type of reduction by natural decay would take about a month. (Radon half-life is about 3.8 days). Also, once youÂve pumped it up to your reservoir, the natural decay is done at atmospheric pressure so it can be vented. Thus, you need another pump to pump it back up to house pressure. (So, it may be easier on one pump, but you do need another pump) I guess if, in my case, I wanted to settle for the EPA limit of 10,000 pCi/l, IÂd need to hold it for just a bit more than a day. The average American uses 100 gallons of water per day, so for my family of 4, I figured IÂd need a 500 gallon tank. (In my mind IÂm visualizing this as nine 55 gallon drums.) We've had on and off showers all day, plus a pretty good larger shower around dinnertime. I collected from a large area of my house/garage roof, and filled a regular large plastic trash can. On the other side of the house, with less of a roof area coming down this spout, I collected about 25 gallons. I just emptied both, deep watering via hose siphoning, shrubs and perennials close by that really needed a drink. It was so exciting, standing there, during a shower, watering with my "free" water, that would otherwise go down my driveway. yayyyy!!

Hi Years ago I built an above ground 5x10x3 foot tank mainly to store RW but quickly turned into a water garden because of the mosquito problem It is fed from the downspouts from the roof underground to the bottom of the pool so when it rains it serves as a purge system overflow going to a marsh garden. I use a 1500 GPH that i just throw into the various holding tanks because this allows me to use sprinklers for the shadehouse Actually has more pressure than my tap water lol. i also use this system for an auto water change for indoor aquariums though this use requires filters .Strategicly placed PVC with snap on attachments and the fact that it doesn't freeze makes it all possible . I like the "water garden" storage area because it can hold a LOT of water and doesn't require it be hidden was also the cheapest method as I store almost 1500 gallons of RW and spent less than 800 bucks not counting stocking the resulting fish pond. I use a "Pond master" utility pump as the power source which is moved from the different containers depending on water quality needed. With snap on attachments to the various irrigation sites. I find "gravity "sucks" but not nearly enough lol One thing I've never figured out is how to make it rain. Even with 1500 gallons I still run out !!! I have to revert to the tap to fill the water garden.lol gary
