There is some virus on this site tonight trying to bring up a dead website when you click on the page, including this editing area. Annoying. NTEP has three maintenance schedules. Many of the seeds report there performance on Schedule A. In their own adds they highlight a test for an obscure year. NTEP doesn't seem to rank by Schedule C, but does by A&B. I looked at the Schedule B rankings for NJ. Also had a conversation with the seed guy at Lebanon, tried to track down different seeds. It is off season, and if a distributor is stocked out, they are stocked out until March. SeedSuperstore only lists two Turf Merchants cultivars (both good ones) and a blend of those two and a third (also good). I did find Lebanon's Winning Colors, Winning Colors Plus (adds bluegrass), and SportTurf (80% specific fescues, 10% rye, 10% bluegrass about an hour away. Note, I need about 500#, shipping is an issue. I sorted the Schedule B list my NJ1, New Brunswick. Using the links you guys posted I identified the #2 Bullseye, #3 Mustang 4, and #5 Cochise IV. Now the question is it worth getting these shipped over a mix from Lebanon that includes #7 Van Gogh and an unranked on this scale DaVinci? I noticed another unranked one which was deep green and had roadside as an application. Several claim high rhizome growth, not a TTTF characteristic, and not included in the NTEP reports. All the ranked ones were 8.0 or 8.2. Could we really tell a 7.0 from an 8.0 without a back-to-back comparison? I'm wondering if getting the Winning Colors from the local distributor is the best choice. $.90 or $1.25/pound, without and with bluegrass, respectively. Jim for me its my rosa rogosas first, they always attack them first and most. I have a first year plant robusto rose which is a glossy kordes, they seem to like that as well. But they do eat anything, the really like my corn stalks and potatoe plants and bean plants all the rest of my flowers (except lillium and hermocallis and hostas). Also seem to enjoy rasberry and blackberry foliage but seem to leave the fruit only, which is ok by me. ITs been a lighter year than normal here, just picked off a few dozen yesterday, nothing like the hundreds some years.

Ive seen them attack all sorts of flowers and bushes and vines, I do not think they ever cared what color it was as long as the foilage wasnt of the fern type or the crinkle type, they devour it. They like my Quadra (deep red) rose as much as they like my crocus (pale yellow) rose at the moment. They enjoyed snacking on my daylilies (alot of them were of deeper hues this year). They enjoy to snack on all my coneflowers no matter what thier hue. They really really love any sort of hibiscus you want to serve them as well =). Salvias of all sorts etc... In a BAD BAD year (I would call this a mild sort of year) I once had a fence posted up for a trellis for my green beans to about ten feet, It was probable 30 feet long or so , Ive seen them competly strip all the leaves off these vines, while still attacking everything else. You should see them devour a cornfield =)...

They're currently destroying my blackberry crop, along with the roses, crape myrtles, hibiscus, etc. I usually get a few cobblers before the JBs get really bad, but with them starting so early this year, that's not looking promising :( On a positive note, so far, the flowers & berries are proving a good distraction from the vegetable garden...at the moment, the JBs are only ruining our corn (and the bunnies are only eating our beans). Patty...I love that chicken pot pie story!!!
