Could it be a humidity issue? I've had problems with some of those small (mini/semi)white/green ones, but the blossoms just looked more like chickweed. I threw one out not too long ago. It was happening with my new Planet Kid, which I'd grown before with blossoms. I do have 2 but changing to a location that wasn't as warm & dry has improved the flowers. My first Irish Flirt bloomed but the plant was all twisted. I thought it was just like that until someone posted theirs. Eventually I got another one and the foliage behaved much better. This one has always opened for me and I gave it to DD where it's still blooming although the plant looks sad. I take it you are sure about things like thrips? I have no experience there. Diana in PA

Aren't these the lilies you got the end of May? (You posted a question on whether it was too late to plant them.) I'm glad to hear that they have buds on them. Orientals bloom July to August. Since yours were planted pretty late you should expect them to bloom later than is normal for your zone. Orientals have pretty large blooms. If the buds are green (regardless of size) they are not ready to bloom yet. You'll know when they are close to blooming when you can see some color through the still closed petals. For example, my established Stargazers are in bloom now, but my late planted Triumphator (a Longiflorum - Oriental hybrid which would normally bloom shortly before Stargazer) have a way to go before they will bloom. After overwintering the late planted lilies will be on the expected timetable next season. -Helen

I feel for you because I have a Charles Lawson as well and it only blooms when it gets cold enough. That means it hasn't bloomed for many years now here by Disneyland. I keep waiting for another cold year. One benefit of this rose is the smooth canes. This rose loves to grow. All these superior traits and it has trouble blooming. Such a shame. When it does bloom its just beautiful. I think it could live in the wild very well on just what nature provides.

Yes, it's the humidity. It causes a fungus called botrytis. Dryer weather will make it go away usually.
