Thursday Bloom Pics -Just a few

Temps are up, rain held off and the sun was shining all day.

WATCHYL MOONBEAM - 2 scapes and not too many buds. May have to rethink this one.

SPIRITUAL CORRIDOR - LOVE IT!! Was open at 6:30am and still holding good at 7:00pm this evening.

ITZA PINK TEDDY - I had to rebuy this one as the one sent by a LA seller in May was so bad I couldn't chance it not making it through the winter.

G.WILLIKERS - new this year. Still evaluating it. First pic taken at around 6:30am. You will see that in the second pic, the flower starts to fade a bit in color.

ENTER LAUGHING - Open at 6:30am this morning. New this year. Still evaluating it. Disappointed as a Melanie Mason intro the scapes came up so short - 8 inches. I would have expected it to be less than registered but 8 inches is very short. We shall see what it does next year.

That's all the new ones today. Other dls in the garden are going to open tomorrow and those that opened already are still blooming with lots of buds to go. WILD IRISH has a rebloom scape with plenty of buds which will probably open within the week. Anxious to see how this round goes.

Julia- Are these short scaped ones and ones with poor budcounts new this year? If they are you just need to ignore those problems and wait until next year before making any judgements.

SPIRITUAL CORRIDOR is really nice and I like G. WILLIKERS in both the morning and afternoon pictures. Very few daylilies don't fade or change color some from early morning opening until later so not sure that it really means anything special that there was some color change.

SPIRITUAL CORRIDOR is lovely - you really can get a sense of the substance from your picture.

Don't you just love Itza Pink Teddy? I just thought it was the cutest thing ever when it bloomed here. Sorry to hear you got a raw deal the first go around... hopefully you have enough of it to grow strong through your winter.

You managed some really nice ones. I really seem to be drawn to vibrant yellow this year so my favorite of this batch would be the last one, Chasing Windmills. But I also really like Light Motif and the other yellow, Sculpted Treasure.

Everything looks great! The cactus really seem to shine in late spring/early summer and once they are finished blooming you have huge tropicals that take over! The castors are going to be ridiculous by the end of this season! If you get a late frost, I would expect them to reach at LEAST 14' Thanks for sharing! -Alex

Rita: I have about 5 of Melanie's intros this year and I didn't expect scapes as tall as what was registered but 8 inches is really way off especially for her 2008 Intro. Not giving up yet. Just going to keep watching to see how they do next year.
Watchyl Moon Beam did not bloom last year and this year it did but poorly. The sellers photo shows a whiter version. As you can see in the pic and what you would see in person it is a lemon yellow.

fairysoapgirl: Spiritual Corridor is a really nice bloom. I just had a couple of splotchy marks as a FFO but overall the bloom was great. It's got wonderful scapes and buds so the show is just beginning.
Itza Pink Teddy should be putting on a better show next year.

Melanie's daylilies are really great all around garden plants. She makes sure her intros have not just pretty faces but the entire plant to go with it which is one of the reasons why I love her intros so much. First year plants sometimes (not always) do strange things. I had one of my westbournes that I bought last fall just bloom on a scape that couldn't have been 4 inches. Should be mid height at around 28 or so. No big deal, it will be fine next year.

Really like Itza Pink teddy and G Willikers in both shots. I wouldn't worry about short scapes in the first year. A lot of them seem to be short the first year for me, but they almost always improve.

SPIRITUAL CORRIDOR is the standout for me.

How are you liking ITZA PINK TEDDY? I received it as a bonus a few years ago and, so far, I'm not impressed. The flowers have been tiny.

We are almost on the same page, my Spiritual Corridor is having it's FFO as I type. Not quite open yet at 7am. It has alot of scapes, good branching & bud counts for only it's 2nd summer.

I planted Itza a Pink Teddy this spring too! It's putting up scapes & looks like I'll get to see it bloom this summer!

Spiritual Corridor is a beautiful bloomer and blooms well. I had many scapes and many blooms and it is always pretty. I had coveted Pink Teddy, so I think I'll wait to see how it goes with yours before I buy it.
