My garden is finally beginning to let loose with a few blooms at a time.

PUMPKIN PIE SPICE-bonus from last fall

Low 50s at night have really slowed things down. I had to wait until this afternoon for them to open as well as they did.

Lovely DLs Betsy. HUBBLES BUDDY looks like one that might have to be added to my list. My Indian Giver looks like it will be a while before a bud opens, but it is one of my top 5 or 10. We had some cool nights too, but I think that is about to change.

Betsy, those are real pretty. Hubbles Buddy and Windmill yellow are my favorites. Course, I like Frank Smith and Awesome Blossom but I have those. The eye on FS doesn't look as wide as mine. Is he opened completely? I don't think he is, I can tell so that's a dumb question. Aren't you glad to finally get some blooms? Anyway, congrats on you blooms..They are lovely...Ellie

Wow that columbine is impressive. How long has it been in your garden? I started several Mckana giants last year and they are up and blooming, but they are pretty spindly looking compared to yours. I wonder if they are likely to get bushier over time, or if I have them in too much shade. One bunch gets morning sun and the other bunch gets afternoon sun. This is the first time I've grown them.

I don't think so, Iris_Gal. I *wish* I had kept a copy of that iris order! That is, I did keep a copy, so I *wish* I could find it! :-) Thanks for trying. Thanks, Renee. The rock wall is actually our old stone ice house. The Blushing Rose iris is planted on a stone terrace across from it. Here's a view of the corner of the ice house; you can see how thick the walls are. Ice was cut from a pond (before my time!) and stored in there to feed the family's "ice box." Sorry to say this rose (Robusta) didn't survive the winter. I think last year's severe catepillar damage might have had something to do with it.

I don't spray sandcherry at all. It gets completely defoliated for a little while in summer but the leaves grow back quickly. It's happened every summer for years and it hasn't killed it yet. I'll try to notice this summer how long it's leafless, a week at the most I think. I could smell it from more than 50 feet away when I was outside today.

Jane-Hubbles Buddy was a bonus I got to choose from a list. I had no idea what it looked like, but liked the name. I'm glad I did! We are still cool with rain for 3 days, then warm up.
Ellie-The only things opening all the way are spiders and ufs cuz it's been cool and cloudy here for days. The ufs don't curl and crispate, or whatever they choose to do until afternoon when it is warmest.It's interesting to see the difference in form and color with the temps.

Nice photos, even if the daylilies took a long time to open. I wish we had some cooler temps here, so I could get a few more daylilies out of pots and in the ground. I've planted 15 in the past three days, but now the temps are going back up in 90s with high humidity again.

Very pretty! I like Hubbles Buddy and Windmill Yellow best. It's been cool the past few mornings here too and some of the daylilies take a long time to open. Others open fine. I love daylilies that open well on cool mornings.
