Those of you who grow oregano...

Can you suggest a type that would work as a ground cover to prevent erosion on a short sloped area? Full to part-day sun, good drainage.

I'm planning a new bed right out front and will need something fairly low-growing to keep the dirt & mulch off my sidewalk once I remove the grass.

I grow Greek oregano, which is evergreen here (and good enough looking in winter). It spreads nicely and doesn't seem to need a lot of water, but I don't know anything about other varieties and am wondering if there might be something even better.

Tia,

Carol
