I am weaning myself off... Canyon Bounty farms opens its greenhouses in the spring and sells veggie starts. I went twice - one main buying trip, and a second because a couple things I started from seed didn't make it. I'm hoping next spring to have a better seed starting setup, and not have to buy any starts except maybe onions (I don't have much luck with them). Will hopefully find time to winter sow my flowers next year too. So I'm hoping to get the garden center visits down to about 2x per year, plus a seed order or two online.

A gallon is awfully small. Is it a full sized lotus? I'm sure it could survive until late fall for transplanting, but it might not give you any blooms this summer, if its too crowded. Hopefully some others will chime in. If it is indeed in such a small container, I'm thinking I'd go ahead and transplant it now, being very careful to keep the soil ball intact. You'd probably have to put it in a container that could accept the entire rootball.....which might not be the shape of container you would utimately want......but you could change that when it was dormant.

Fabulous find, Ryan! As long as the garden center personnel recommend the fungicide you're using, it should be fine. It's only to keep mold and fungal issues at bay while your bulbs are resting, and you can use a bit when you re-pot them, as well... just to be sure no fungus will take hold from potting soil or moisture from watering. I have a Red Nymph... it's a very pretty variety! You'll enjoy it!

Edy, your roots over skull in my head lives in my head XD! I don't have as fine an eye as you do, but about 2 wks ago I chopped 2 hot pepper plants. Both were about 3' tall and just as wide. I cut 'em down to about 7" and this weekend, I will bare root, gritty their feet & bring them in. Here's the before & after...
