Growing Lavender & Rosemary from seed

I've started some of my seedlings, too early really but I just couldn't wait. The rosemary and lavender have started to sprout and I'm looking for any advice on how to proceed. I know that my sister has killed off several lavender plants that I have procured for her. I killed off some rosemary, probably by fungal growth. I don't know if this indicates that these are temperamental plants or that we're particularly skilled at killing things.

Any suggestions? I'd really like to turn one rosemary into a bonsai tree. If I can get it to live that long.
