Some more pics from me

We'll get the uglies out of the way first. FFO on a pair of Transylvanian Cocktails, didn't exactly open all the way and found a bug chewing on one...it got swatted away.

Alpine Snow, ffo, didn't open all the way either. Some reason the lilies today didn't want to open.

Mary Alice Stokes, second flower, missed photographing the first. Watching her to see if she improves. Just a single fan, but it's huge and the scape is the thickest I've ever seen on a daylily, about as thick or thicker than my forefinger.

FFO on Soft Summer Night. Again, another that didn't want to open fully, but better than the first three.

Raspberry Pixie, a cutie mini.

Found out what my unknown spider is that was supposed to be Baby Valentine....this is String Theory, 2nd bloom.

One I've had for several years, Wine Delight.

Third flower on Purple Pinwheel, finally shaped up, but unfortunately, after this bloom the rest of the buds fell off. Oh well, at least now the plant can concentrate on growing than flowering.

And finally, an unknown lily that's about 20-24 inches tall and the flower is about 3 1/2". It's a smidge more red than this photo shows, some reason the camera just doesn't want to pick up the true color.

Your unknown is a stunner. I have no problem with unknowns. Some I have had around here for ten years and I have no plans to get rid of them. Love the bug sitting right smack dab in the middle of Wine Delight, like it was his own private world. Did you notice it when you were taking the picture or only later?

I noticed the little guy, I have them all over. I think they are katydids, they seem to like to hang out on the daylilies. I know what you mean about the unknowns, the nameless, the one's without identity...lol! I have a couple more that are like that and I think I have a name for them, but won't give them away as such cuz I don't know 100%, but they sure are pretty. They haven't bloomed yet, but will shortly. Thank you for the comments! :)

Actually, no not yet.....(I know chicken!) I did cut back the one honeysuckle that I'm keeping, to 4 feet. The other one and the bittersweet have still to come out. I am just taking a break from digging out the monster rose that does not bloom. (once in 4 years) It will leave that bed bare looking for a while, but I guess if I'm desecrating the garden, go for broke, right? Oh, well got some nice pics while I had the spring flush of roses. That will have to do for a while, or only do close ups... I bought a Lambert Closse to plant in place of the bush I am removing. Hope that one will do ok there. Also have 2 Simon Fraser to plant in that bed. Hmmm....wonder if I have room? I dug out a Carefree Beauty from the other bed when I redid that bed. CB sat in the wheelbarrow for a week. Just didn't know where to stick it. It was trying so hard to hang on that I didn't have the heart to get rid of it, so planted it in a big pot this morning. It just got too big where it was planted. Seems to be a problem I have. If they say 3-4 feet I can plan on 5-6 feet! So I am hard at it today and tomorrow. DH is gone for the weekend. I got up early and started as it is supposed to be in the 90's with high humidity today and tomorrow. Marylu

Thank you, everybody! Iris_gal, RR and WS2000 are very different:-). WS2000 is an all-round great rose, great bush shape, clean foliage to the ground, very prolific, fast rebloom. The only things to complain about is fragrance which is not very strong, short stems and short vase life. RR is a typical HT bush - a collection of vigorous thick straight canes growing in all directions (like Mr. Lincoln), very sparsely foliated. Quite ugly, in fact. The foliage is never clean for me. It doesn't want to bloom in spring, it likes the heat. However, the blooms it sets in the heat fry very fast, often before the buds open. The plus side is the blooms are very strongly fragrant, have nice cutting stems and last forever (well, upwards of a week) in a vase. It is a perfect cutting rose which in my opinion should be grown somewhere out of the way and all blooms should be cut for the house. Sorry to be so long:-) Christina, thank you for your nice comments. The little flowers are a geranium which also has a bonus of grey leaves which go nicely with purple. It is a tiny plant and I don't know if it will live through the winter:-(. I am afraid I am acquiring a mini collection of geraniums too, thank goodness my husband doesn't know... Masha

Karen, I enjoyed your photos and your last one sure looks like my Dragon Heart. Size is right for it also. Here's a photo of mine this year in my garden.

My favorites (and added to my list) are String Theory (must have been named by a string player?)and Purple Pinwheel (love white midribs on any DL).)

It took quite a long time to load your large file sized photos, but was well worth the wait!
