A little catch up posting

I have been a little errant about posting. We've been trying to help my husband's mom clean up after the storm. Three trees down and lots of branches. I have posted a few things on my dad's facebook (Birdland Daylilies)to help promote his gardens-but tours are down this year because no one wants to wander out in the gardens in 100 degree weather. Can't say that I do either. lol Also planning for a daylily expo that we are going to work at this Sunday. But I will post some now and try to get another set out before I go to work.

First of all-some of my beds are doing ok-not happy about lack of rain, but some look bad. Here's a rough one. These are plants I've had for a long time. I did move them last fall, but they shouldn't be looking so pathetic.

and a happy bed-this area gets a little more shade than the first garden this is the raised bed area I was working on last year and this year.

My daylilies that get all day sun look like yours in the first photo. The ones that get 2-3 hours of afternoon shade look much, much better. My favorite is your Crown of Creation clump. The Peace On Early double is very pretty, too!

That PEACE ON EARTH sure is a beauty - and I see that at least one of the blooms on that is a poly, as well as a double! I am betting that it gets that from FAIRY TALE PINK, which frequently produced polys when I had it.

I have been moving my garden away from diploids, but I still have some, including the diploid doubles SCATTERBRAIN and MADGE CAYSE. I very much love the latter; I wonder how PEACE ON EARTH would go with that - too similar in color? Hmmm...

I have been swamped for the past few days and haven't had time to comment on everything. Still enjoying all the pictures though. Then last night when I did have some time all the forums were on the fritz again, connection problems. So I didsn't get back again until just now.

Thanks Linda. MS is another of the ones I love...I think the colors are just beautiful.. Chris, MM does not increase very well for me . It just sits. It didn't bloom last year at all and was sparce this year. I thought I would give it another year or two before removing it.. MH blooms were really small this year. Also, it never got to it's correct form. The color is ok but that's about all. It looked better the first year I had it after taking a month to settle in.. Got your number for sure Rita. But you are right! Matt is a very pretty daylily and that helps even a clump.. Thanks for all your responses...Ellie

mantis, Calming Effect has been in the ground for 4 years and I get one to two good blooms a year. It is on the list to leave the garden this year. Actually, this is the first good bloom this year. Increase is poor as it is still two healthy fans. My garden can get a little crowded, but CE is in a great spot and has plenty of room. David

That's the way it is this year, Lisa. Hot day, stressful on daylilies and their owners.

I love your clump of Crown of Creation, and i have always had a fondness for Firestorm.

Pretty garden shot and the blooms all do look great. Cody's Fire is my very favorite.

I do hope it cools down for you soon. Your clump of Crown of Creation seems to be fading from the heat? Isn't it amazing how the coneflowers seem to adjust better to the weather swings.

I've found Peace on Earth to be a very good bloomer.
Polymerous-I have several dips that I would hate to lose. Especially some of the doubles. Also Laura Harwood-which doesn't look like it would be a dip.
Kay-I think this has been the hottest/driest year since I have been keeping a garden. I hope it cools down soon-I think we got about 5 min of rain today. That's it.
Rita-Cody's Fire is one of my Dad's babies. He's done some crosses with it that are getting toothier.
