Fireworks and sparklers in my garden

I hope everyone is having a nice 4th. I'm spending a quiet day working in my gardens and won't be going to the fireworks display tonight since Mom doesn't like loud noises. I decided that with all the brand-new lilies blooming I already have a fireworks display going on!

So many opened their FFO's today that I had too many pictures for this post...I'll have to do another one tomorrow.

Flags are waving in the breeze to celebrate....

MALAYSIAN MARKETPLACE opened up several today to celebrate....

MARIETTA WARRIOR, ffo after it thunderstormed early so it is a little tattered but still bright RED for the 4th....

Screen Pattern is exciting, and Incendiary seems to like its northern location. What is the rose-colored rose with the caption "before the Japanese beetles..."? Things look lush!

Your garden is beautiful! Beautiful lilies. I love Malaysian Marketplace, & Incendiary is really making a statement. Just perfect.

The stars are from a Yard sale - it's one of those wire things that hold pictures ! I cut them all off & used them in the sparkler. The instructions are nothing special - half totem - half sparklers - Glass things glued - styrofoam stuck in the black vase - beaded wires pushed in - and a layer of white glue over the styro to keep the wires from moving .

AHHHH lemonade.. There used to be, and still might be a vendor at the Iowa State Fair that sold lemonade out of a giant acrylic tub about 4 foot across. It was round ... crystal clear and 2 feet deep.The entire container was raised up shoulder high suspended on a vendors cart. It was filled with quartered lemons and ice cubes the size and shape of one gallon buckets. In the ninety degree heat it sweated cold drips down the clear sides of the clear tub.. just capturing one of those drips in the August humidity can save your life. Your mouth waters like Pavlovs dog in anticipation of the first sip from that vat...

Just the mentilon of sparklers makes me shudder. I was a little girl when a little piece of a burning sparkler flew off and imbedded itself in my finger.....where it continued to burn until Dad could put me out. The piece burned into the flesh creating a problem that didn't go away once the fire was out.....we had to visit the ER. Now that I think about it, I can't remember the last time I saw anyone with one of those things. Sparklers cause more accidents than any other type firework....they're simply not safe. Even if kept away from kids, they aren't safe.

Beautiful. Looks like you got some rain too. I like the Centerfold lilies. Screen Pattern seems like your garden.

That first photo is just the perfect Fourth of July greeting! I've never seen Marietta Warrior before, but it is a stunning red. Are those little red roses in the photo with MW? Screen Pattern is showing a terrific pattern today, very much like an exploding firework. I adore that little Dianthus. I used to have quite a collection of those, but lost them all but one in the last drought. I really enjoyed all these photos. Thanks for posting, and I hope you had an enjoyable holiday in the garden and with your family.

All your flowers are looking great. That first shot is just beautiful. Love the pattern on SCREEN PATTERN.

Yeah, nice color separation on SCREEN PATTERN. My SCREEN PATTERN FFO had that same weird flower shape with the inner part of the petals curled in, but on the rest of them the petals opened all the way across like a normal daylily.

I've never seen a dianthus with that pattern -- do you have to order those or do they sell them at a garden center?

Mantis, the rosy-colored rose in the foreground is 'Noble Antony', an Austin.
Yes, Incendiary does like it's new home here in New Hampshire. I got it last year and it has done wonderfully so far. It is fast becoming one of my favorites.

Debra, yes those are roses in the photo w/ Marietta Warrior. I wish the thunderstorm hadn't tattered the blooms on MW because they are so big and stunning in person and a deep red like bing cherries. I will be sure to take more pictures when the weather is better.

Nate, I picked that dianthus up at a local nursery. I wish I hadn't thrown out the plastic label on it because now I don't recall the name. I like that it's a perennial and very different-looking than most dianthus.

GORGEOUS Just beautiful. Them roses are so beautiful and the lilies are too, love them lilies, and malaysian marketplace IS GORGEOUS..I Have never seen dianthus like that either, and they are certinly beautiful.Hope you had a nice day.Mine was quiet and peaceful.

Your right who needs a fireworks display when you have all that beauty at home. It's nice to see Fat Cat Nemo in one photo actually up and moving.

Gosh, everything is so very pretty as usual. Your lilies and roses are just the best! And wow, I just love that picture of the blue lobelia planter with the american flags. Wonderful color and symbolism. MALAYSIAN MARKETPLACE is my favorite today but INCENDIARY always looks great. Especially there with the lilies.

Incendiary is my favorite! (I got it this year too :)) Malaysian Marketplace is always beautiful.
Centerfold do look like fireworks!
Dianthus is beautiful! I had diff colored sweet william (it's the same right?) for several years but nothing came up this year.
