Tons of blooms from the weekend

OK, so I watered for 4 hours, deadheaded daylilies and roses, pulled weeds and picked japanese beetles and drowned their little $&*#+ so now maybe I can sit a spell and post some photos. Here are just a few of the MANY that bloomed over the last couple days but I have a long way to go to catch up and I'm nowhere near peak yet.

So basically I'll never catch up...LOL.

Celeste

TERRY LYNINGER, FFO

SHELBY'S SONG, FFO

(did you ever have a daylily that when you walked out and saw it's first bloom you went 'Oooh' out loud? This one knocked my socks off and I was wearing sandals.

MOONLIT MASQUERADE, FFO....

LET LOVE REJOICE (has bloomed about 12 blooms already this weekend on a 2-fan plant planted in May)

PRICELESS PEARL (bloomed like a tulip for her FFO)...

and it is supposed to be a late.

WINEBERRY CANDY, FFO

ROYAL FROSTING, FFO

(Gosh, how I love this plant. Just an all-round wonderful daylily).

VICTORIA GRACE, FFO

BARBARA MITCHELL (her first 2 blooms were trying to double but this one today was perfect)

ANGELUS ANGEL, FFO..

Looked so pretty with a background of delphiniums

SILOAM SUGARPLUM, FFO

STRING THEORY, FFO

VOLCANO QUEEN, FFO (sepals are weird, should get better)

WILL HAVE TO POST MORE LATER SINCE THIS IS SO LONG.

These are all gorgeous! Terry Lyninger is looking so much for you than it did for me. Shelby's Song is a very pretty lavender! Victoria Grace has nice colors, and I always love Moonlit Masquerade. Volcano Queen has pretty hot colors for you, and the sepals will get better. But my favorite is the photo with Angelus Angel because it looks so lovely backed by those blue delphiniums.

I dont find it long at all:))Love all of themTERRY LYNINGER is very pretty. Mine had 3 blooms this year but none of them was even half open so I took zero photosit done the same thing last year, so this tells me I will have to dig it back up and pot it, or I will surely lose it.its just hot now to dig it up, well, not today, its not so bad.Its warmed up to 86 from a 72 this morning.SHELBY'S SONG is very pretty one, too and I love WINEBERRY CANDY. and my favorite one is VOLCANO QUEEN. gosh thats pretty.

Debra, How did you know I got it from Aren't I pretty? Is that bad? I was thinking it may not be the same. It kinda resembles the pic thats on Tinkers though. Im not sure check out tinkers and tell me what you think. Im thinking that mabey Aren't I pretty doctored up their pic a little bit! Mabey I should e-mail them. they have good prices, but I did not order from them this yr. cause the plants I got from them were small compared to the ones I got from Marietta's which have great prices also. I always got more than the double fans ordered from Marietta's. Only got puney double fans from AIP. The flower I recieved is OK, but not what I expected, I was aiming to get some more fancy ones. That one is kinda just plain purple. OH well at least its not a stella! Let me know what you think. -Jessica

Debra, this is the first time CHERRY CREAM PIE ever rebloomed. CTC- This is the showiest VT FALL PINK MELON has ever been as it has been really putting out the blooms this year. It sure does look good in the clump shots. Celeste- Those extra late blooming Olallie intros are doing better than ever this year. I am sure that is because they have been here long enough to get really settled and clumped up finially. Olallie usually does not send big plants so it takes them a few years to really show their stuff. Plus they are dips so maybe that counts for something, don't know.

Passiflora Mystery: 'Incense' with tons of blooms but no fruit.

Hi Karyn, You must need a different P. incarnata. We just had our first fruit fall naturally from the P.'Incense' yesterday. It had just started to turn a bit yellow, but still had some green color to it, just like our P. incarnata, and our P. 'Guglielmo Betto'. Inside were 10 very large black seeds in juicy arils. Oddly, they tasted a little like sour peaches! Never have I tasted a Passiflora quite like it. Upon breaking one open, it does indeed appear that it would be quite viable as well. Now that our P. incarnata has stopped blooming, the P. 'Incense' is no longer setting fruits. I do not think this to be a coincidence. Also, when we first started to see fruits forming on a vine that had never given us any, we did a test. It seemed quite obvious to us what was happening, but we wanted to try it out ourselves. So, we covered an 'Incense' flower bud that was about to open with netting, took off all the anthers as soon as the flower opened, then pollinated it with incarnata pollen and put the netting back on. This indeed set fruit just as the others that the bees were handling for us. So... as I said, I think you need a new P. incarnata. You should email Crystal... Eric

Irisgal. I do not think it is a climber. It's planted too far from the wall and grows in a very classic hybrid tea sort of way. I do trim it down to about 6 feet every year. Perhaps not severe enough. I do not think that, whatever the variety is, it is listed as being able to grow that tall. Gold medal has too few petals, and gets too pink. The pink is the slightest hint at the very tips of the petals. The photo above shows the pink. This photo shows it a bit more obviously while it's in bud stage. Elina is a bit too open as well. And too pale. It's got really full flowers. And they don't bloom in clusters. They flower singularly on really long straight stems.

Drown those darn aweful beetles! Drown them dead! It is a crime to crew on your gorgeous roses.

Beautiful daylily flowers. Ok, I do love them all but my very favorites are VOLCANO QUEEN. Oh cover my eyes, hot, hot, hot. Love that hot color. And ANGELUS ANGEL. I love that picture with the blue in the backround. Great job!

Oh, Celeste, it's almost too much, all of these are fabulous. And just think, so many more yet to come, I may have to go on oxygen--LOL!!! I do particularly love Shelby's Song (did you find your sandals?) the beautiful eye zone of Wineberry Candy, Royal Frosting, such a gorgeous white, Volcano Queen simply cannot be overlooked because it's so in your face with that color, and lastly, the great photo of Angelus Angel set off perfectly with the blue delphiniums. Volcano Queen seems to like your climate. It was slow to get established here, but was nice this year (although not so sunfast as the name implies). The garden backdrops are attractive in several pictures; would like to see more of the backdrop.

They all look so great, I love your Terry Lyninger. I've been wanting to get it for a couple of years & just haven't, this may be the year. Shelby's Song is gorgeous & may be my very favorite.
I think my neighbors must have put out beetle traps. Early in the year it looked like I was going to be overrun by them again, then they just went away. I do see occasional ones, but I can squish them. Guess it is a good thing Rita didn't take me up on the offer of free Japanese beetles, I wouldn't have been able to send them :)

Your Terry Lyninger looks really good. I love the bright color on Volcano Queen!! What is the lily ( asiatic?) behind Barbara Mitchell? I really like it.

THANKS to all of you for your great comments! It's so much work to upload all the photos (as you know) but so much fun because you are all so great.

Cindy, the asiatic lily behind Barbara Mitchell is a dwarf cultivar called 'Tiny Padhye'. I got it from Hallson Gardens and it is truly unique and everyone comments on it.

Wonderful daylilies and great photos. I was going to ask about the unusual lilies, so I'm glad you already posted that information. The delphinium look great with your daylilies. Mine always bloom too early to pair with daylilies.

Those lilies are very unusual and interesting. Ah, the JP's here are loving the Bag a Bug but I also still find some on the plants. Something I look forward to each day is to see how many I can collect in the cup of water LOL.

Shelby's Song is definitely a beauty. Have you had it long enough to rate its perfomance? Volcano Queen is another I really like.
