Buy a pomegrante tree in Metro Atlanta?
Comments (14)wow, what a cool site. I just spent 20 mintues there drooling over the stuff they have. People with land and money who DON'T plant fruit trees are very un-educated! I mean there's pest problems and all that, but most likely not an issue. ANd to have such wonderful things growing freely on your own land would be amazing. We will see how my dwarf apple tree does, plus my blueberries. By the end of the season I'll have some grapes too. I'm sacrificing precious bean and tomato land for the fruit plants but in my mind it's worth it once the initial wait time is over. everyone check out willis orchards! I want an olive and plum and banana and ETC ETC TREE! If anyone has other good sites let me know....See MoreSoapstone suppliers in DC metro area
Comments (18)I hope this thread's not too old to add to. I did some investigating today. I've only seen soapstone a few times but have read every thread on here. I visited Designer Surfaces and Grantops in Frederick today. Very interesting! Designer Surfaces had Green Mountain Original on display and gave me a quick quote based on a very rough drawing. I was told they had very little stock but were expecting more very soon. At Grantops, I was shown a few slabs outside that were very green, and flakey /crumbly. It seemed quartz-like to me, with white crystals mixed in? (I am not a geologist!) I was assured that is was soapstone, but it looked extremely different than the display and sample I saw at Designer Surfaces. It was marked (I think) "Savon Pierre" on the side. A google search shows that this may be Canadian, and good for carving? Very strange! I made a quick stop at Home Depot tonight as my son wanted some duct tape. I walked thru the kitchen area and noticed that they are selling this exact same soapstone (same name too). I asked the store associate ( a very, very young man) about it and he told me it was real soapstone, but you couldn't put it in a kitchen because it was extremely porous. He said it was great for bathroom vanities. Bizarre, don't you think? I also called Carapace last week and they said they only had "the green kind that nobody wants". Maybe he too was referring to this "Savon Pierre"?...See MoreFabricator in metro detroit
Comments (21)Hello heffer569, I'm sure my post is way too late for your counters, but just in case someone else is looking for white quartzite in the Detroit Metro area, I have used Flinstone Marble and Granite in Southfield, MI and they have access to the most beautiful slabs of White Quartzite, including Polar White and Rhino White, with gorgeous veining, looking like marble at a very reasonable price. They are priced C or D level, which is equal to granite in many cases. I have dealt with Flinstone for over 5 years for several remodel projects and they have always given me the most competitive pricing of any place I've contacted. Comments (11)Jean, I just got my oriole feeder last year, after noticing an oriole checking out my hummingbird feeder. Last year they only frequented the feeder for a few weeks. This year, there are so many orioles, I can hardly believe it! In my Birds of Michigan book, it says they are a common bird here, but I think they spend a lot of their time hanging out in the large trees in the woods. It's nice to see so much more of them this year. I've noticed some purple finches eating the jelly too - I just put jelly in the cups, I don't make nectar for that feeder or put oranges on it. Debra, that monarda is Purple Rooster - I really like the color, it's a nice deep purple color. Tie and Tails was definitely one of the best opening purples this morning. More are open now, but some aren't even fully open yet, the temp hasn't hit 70 yet and it's not sunny. Mantis, the spiky flowers with Yellow Monkey are veronica. I have several, but I think those ones are in the area where I had one that I think was Purpleicious (sp?) and it did have seedlings, so it may be some seedling. I have others in that same violet color range, I think Eveline is one. Some of my veronicas (and some coreopsis and calamint) got majorly hit by bugs this spring - I guess the weather conditions made for a booming population of bugs. At least the veronica blooms are still pretty, even if the foliage might not look so great. I have this week off work and am spending it at home - it's nice to have plenty of time to enjoy the flowers, take pictures and share some of them!...See Morechills71
