Thoroughbred Daylilies put up Fall intros.

I see that Thoroughbred daylilies has started the fall season by putting up their fall intros. Of course, not all the hybridizers do fall intros but many do.

None of the new ones interest me enough to want to spend my money. But I still have my wish list of intros of theirs I never got and still want. That includes an older one, MARY LENA and some of the 2010 spring intros. I wanted two of the spring 2010 Dips, FRUITY OVERTONES and IN HIGH REGARD. Plus DREAM SEQUENCE from 2009 is still on the wish list.

i really like glowing quasar, edge of time, polynesian paradise and rosy complexion. there's quite a few of their older intros that i'd still love to get like abraham lincoln, color coordinated, lotus position, steve todd, when you're lonely and jefferson davis.

There are some nice ones, but nothing good enough to bump Willow Dean Smith of the top of my Rice wishlist.

Thank you so much Jan. Now I see what everyone is talking about. Still can't get pictures to show on their website no matter how I pull it up. Probably they've updated their software to something I don't/can't have. I know some of the newer websites are going to PDF files and I can't get those either. Oh well. I wouldn't have known about Shores of Time except for this forum, so as long as I can still see a few pictures here I'm in good shape (although my wallet may not be).

Kay: I appreciate your input on El Desperado and Beautiful Edgings. I'm sure Alabama's summers are as hot as Oklahoma's. It's good to hear these 2 take the heat. Newyorkrita: Thanks for the link to earlybird daylilies. I've already been drooling over the photos. numama: I'm glad to hear Shirley Lane Carr is also heat tolerant. My sister lives in Bentonville is that anywhere near you? Ellie: Double Cranberry Ruffles is sure pretty. I'll give it a shot and see how it stands up. Thanks again everyone.

I received the catalog the other day, and several really wowed me. I want JOLLY GOOD YELLOW! I also like the ones out of tet TEXAS KALEIDOSCOPE. Other favorites include PEAK OF PERFECTION, which sounds like it'd put on a fantastic display, and the dreamy HEARTS OF DIXIE, which apparently has at least one dormant one in its background. But I have had mixed success with the southern stuff. Some, like GET JIGGY, are just wonderful; others have croaked during their first winter. I'm sure dormancy in the background is a key element, if not the key one. My inclination is to let other northern collectors buy at intro prices and test grow for me. So, Linda, let me know how your three do for you. ;)

"Thanks for the link but I won't be ordering from Mr Smith. My money goes to the Stamiles. They are generous and nice to work with and their plants look more like their photos, sometimes even better. Dot" I'll have to '2nd' this posting. Every Smith I got was very sparsely rooted.. and then the Wedding Gown fiasco. The Wedding Gown pic shown on the Smith site isn't anything like what I saw here.. which had a gold edge and isn't an appealing flower at all...wasn't even white. I believe most anyone whose reviewed many daylily pics online would question that pic representing Wedding Gown.. at least the colors don't seem correct to me. But that net pic clearly shows a lack of a heavy gold edge.. what one can see of it is WHITE as the petal color. And this is NOT the case per photos posted here and what I saw here. I buy very few southern intros.. then usually for some specific feature or hybridizing goal. But in the future I'll avoid buying any Smith daylily intros.. relying on garden pics of said plants to judge their merits. No more Smith's here. No more photoshop roulette for me.

None of these grabs me like Arnette Zapel. That's one I'd really love to have.

Wow, Love "Blue Grass Melody" Looks like the true blue purple I am hunting. I have their "Higher Ambition" a pretty red with white midribs.

I do have some of the Rice intros here too and they do very, very well. I have LOTUS POSITION, TRUELY ANGELIC, SOMETHING ANGELIC, SHEILA BROUGHTON, HOW LOVELY YOU ARE, WILLOW DEAN SMITH and probably forgetting to list something.

Grand Gesture and Law of Attraction are the two grabbing my eyes...LOVE THEM. The two I added last year, Bass Gibson and Ruckus have doubled in size from last year, plus Annette sent me POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS as bonus, the other Rice's I grow do well too, they will always have space in my gardens, Annette is VERY HELPFUL too! Just love dealing with them.
