Am I the only one thoroughly annoyed by the video commercial that comes on each time I switch from one topic to another? I don't know when they began but I find myself just signing out of GardenWeb rather than waiting for a commercial to end--over and over and over!!!

lindagail, are you using Firefox for your browser? If not, then you should consider downloading it from mozilla.com. Once you have that, add the free extra AdBlock "add-on". Wonderful! I haven't had an ad or a video for months.

Yes, Linda, switch to Firefox. It works great. I switched years ago and have never had a problem again! Plus I love the browser.

I have the tendency to overwhelm myself. I'll decide that since I have ricotta I could make lasagna, then I'll decide that I should really make fresh pasta for it, then I'll decide that since I don't really like meat in my lasagna, I should also make some grilled chicken, and while I'm at it, I should cut up and roast that squash that's languishing on the counter, and then it's 9 pm, every dish in the house is dirty, and dinner still isn't ready. Thus, my resolution is to aim lower. I might operationalize this desired simplicity as follows: -at least one dish must contain two food groups (defined as protein, carb, veggie) or the veggie must be microwaved with no additional fuss or the first dish must be able to wait while the second dish is cooked in the same vessel. -dry carbs prevail: Sometimes I end up cooking two carb dishes because the meal feels too wet. If I know I'm going to want crackers or with my soup, I don't need to put rice or noodles in it. If I know I'm going to want toast with my eggs, I don't need potatoes too. -one vegetable is enough -the refrigerator should remain 25% empty, or be subjectively easy to navigate. -I will start the week with one or more of the following: washed and chopped veggies, cut up meat, raw dough, plain cooked rice or pasta. -I will use my gift card to the World Spice Merchants to buy whole spice blends. I will use them, and I will feel like my one-pot meal is legitimate cooking.

I haven't read all the replies, but here's what I did to get rid of it, outside of throwing something at my computer screen! lol. I use AOL, in YaYa's current topic someone said to install Firefox. I went to adblockplus.com. It's free and fast. I closed my AOL then downloaded it. I logged onto AOL again, came here, and voila, it's gone! I'm not using the FF internet though, but it got rid of that black THING.

I use an electric heating pad and my husbands tenz machine (better than the DR Ho one, he got his from WCB years ago). Works like a charm. I have degenerative disc disease in my upper spine/neck and a torn muscle in my shoulder. I think I also damaged my rotator cuff at work hauling milk (if you're on my FB page, you know all about our seniors day, or as we call it: Milk Day). I was in so much pain this week. I used my husbands CBD oil two nights in a row (relief within 15 minutes) and the heating pad and tenz machine last night. Still a little sore but not like I was. If I do use a rub, I like Voltaren as it's not scented. I can get some RX Voltaren from work if I whine enough. lol They'll just put a little in a jar and let me take it. It's called Diclo. Love the stuff.

Remove flash player from your computer. You'll miss out on you tube videos but also miss out on all the bandwidth hoarding animated ads. I've lived without flash for years, you can too

You can also click the "skip" spot which turns it off fast.

Oh Lordy,

I guess I'm going to have to become a techno-geek, after all. I've been too long just trying to take the easy way out. One time long ago when Firefox first came out I tried to download it and wasn't successful. I'll try again.

Firefox alone won't solve the problem since what youre complaining about are animated flash ads. One nice thing about firefox is it gives you the option to block all images that don't originate on the same server as the website. That winds up keeping pretty much all of the ads from showing up. Unfortuntately it also prevents images that people post to the forum such as photobucket and imageshack photos since they are on another server. I wish there was a switch to toggle back and forth.

I hate the Dove Video. Nothing like getting a sweet tooth at 10:30 at night,with no chocolate in house!:

I use firefox, Noton Antivirus, Spyware Blaster and Spybot Search and Destroy. I never have a problem. All free except for the Norton.

Great but what to they do to prevent animated ads and unwanted flash videos? Nothing. Norton is antivirus software, spybot s&d is to remove spyware and firefox is an ok, albeit very overrated browser.
