More and more flowers are opening, love the mornings at the beginning of the season :)
And one is even done. Well no wonder with 4 buds only hehe

Let's hope this one will work. I got it in winter I guess. A store was going out of business, I went to look thinking the prices would be really good. Well, that was not the case, but I couldn't resist picking that one up. The box said it was a Starburst light, you know that spiky thing (they didn't have many different ones, just a couple left). Imagine my surprise when I opened it at home and it was a.. daylily! How perfect! Well, it's probably some other flower but for me it is my new plastic daylily :)

Gracious! So many stunners on this post. I think my very favorite is your NOID. I love its color and the pleated petals that pinch in the throat. Christopher Moody looks perfect in every photo you've posted. Forty Days and Forty Nights is a lovely purple, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is such a soft, round pink.

Yes, Hans-Werner, 'roter Brenner' is much more descriptive than 'Red Blotch.' Reason number two million, four to learn as many languages as one possibly can (says the person who cannot stop learning new languages...I love it when Garden Web endorses not only my love of gardening, but my other past-times, too) (In all sincerity, though, I really do think that the more languages one uses to talk about something, the clearer idea one can get of it, as languages all have their weak and strong points.) To me, 'blotch' means some sort of 'mark' or 'spot,' larger than a 'speck,' and usually with irregular edges. It often, but not necessarily, has negative connotations - 'blotches' are not usually desirable. Sometimes the word is used with positive connotations to describe variegated plants - "stems heavily blotched and spotted purple" and the like. No association whatsoever with black crispiness, or any sort of crispiness, really. Korina, sounds like you did the right thing. Here's what I would do next, but please keep in mind that I am one of those experimental, don't-use-toxic-chemicals gardeners. (See! That would be so much more graceful in German.) Hans-Werner will tell you the method that absolutely works, and I'll tell you what I do :) I'd dust the cut area(s) with powdered sulfur. I'd also spray the bulb thoroughly with Safer Soap, in attempt to combat the mites. I'd be particularly careful to spray the top of the bulb, in-between the scales/dead leaf edges, with the soap. How much of an effect insecticidal soap has on bulb mites I don't know, but several people here use it and it does seem to help (at least). If viable roots are in evidence, I'd replant the bulb in dry to *barely* moist, light soil and keep it dry and on the warm side for at least a week, probably 2. I'd keep it very, very far away from my other Hippeastrum, as you have been doing. I'd poke - gently! - every few days to make sure the rot wasn't progressing. If no roots, I'd leave it out on a shelf or something like that and poke on the same schedule. I'd do the best I could, but prepare myself to throw the bulb away if it continued to produce abnormal leaves. Good luck, and please let us know what happens. Amanda

Okay - took a few days, but got a pic of a just opened butterfly from my older bush. bad flower but no pink on the inside. though i did notice pink on the outside of the petals of the new flowers recently so who knows.

Flowerlady, you know more about the operation of these dratted photo web sites than I do, and their connection to GW. At first I thought I could upload a photo to GW and it would be on their server. But apparently they only keep a link to the uploaded image, and it is viewable by the HTML code. I found that out when I uploaded and then promptly deleted the photos from the tinypic place that I use. Well, duhhhh, silly me, I had to do everything over again. I also keep all of my photos on my computer, or now on the Western Digital Ambassador 1T USB external drive. That is AWESOME! I love it, and can have all of my photos right there, foreseeably into the end of time. As long as they make a USB connection to computers. So that is what I thought you'd have going on too. I apologize if I as usual over simplified the solution to viewing your lovely pictures as simply uploading them from your computer. But of course, we can always wait for the new projects to be done and your blog to be updated too, and we'll be able to see them there permanently. Again I apologize, did not mean to intrude on your blissful cottage days filled with cooking and baking and beading and gardening and embroidering. And blogging! :)

As always your seedlings are pretty............I've tried Shores of Time 3 times. One was mislabled, 1 died over winter before it bloomed, the final one was in a mass of blooms when it got rust that one year I had rust. I had to pitch it flowers and all to keep the rust from spreading any more then it already had. I will not put up with rust. I almost wept because it was a beauty.........All Of My Love To You is my second favorite and is on my long list now. Rice says it is Sunfast, which really makes it special if true..................Maryl

Love your solar light! You have so many really pretty ones today, I don't think I can get it to one. Christopher Moody, Quiet Reflections and Forty Days and Forty Nights are my favorites.

Your bloom pics are lovely. Quiet Reflections is very eye catching with that edging on it. Lovely color too.

Beautiful daylilies, but I thin RAspberries in Cream is the one that especially caught my eye, although I kinda like that NOID pleated one, very different. I'm not sure I have seen anything like that.

oh gee,I can not pick just one for a favorite as they are all a favorite,i love every one of them.they are all gorgeous,even your plastic daylily is pretty. I have a bunch of these solar lights too. mine are mostlt butterflies,, some flowers,and a dargon fly which I like best.Every time I youngest daughter sees one I don't have, she gets it for me as she likes them, too.

Yes, Jean I first saw those lights in your pictures. Well, turned out that the flower is not illuminated, you can just see a colored bulb at night, but it's ok.
I looked up pleated and pinched again. Still don't quite get it because their example of pinching looked different.

I didn't think of that about the solar lights just lighting up in the middle. AH HA! I (and probably alot of other people) thought the whole thing would light up. Well, it's still neat. In my area I could at least count on that "daylily" beings sunfast and colorfast.....Your daylilies sure light up the garden. My favorites are Christopher Moody. Love the pattern. Reminds me of Pansies (which I love). Beautiful Edgings always commands attention and your crisp image does justice to it........Maryl
