Yahoo. Once again my Brunfelsia is about to flower!

This is about the 6th time I have gotten flowers all over this one since the spring, but this is about the most I have ever gotten at once and during the cold weather!~

How much sunlight does yours usually get Mike? :)

Hey Kemistry: How have you been? Good to see you:-)

Well, at this time of the year, it is in my small greenhouse which only gets about 2 hours of sun and the rest just daylight.

In November until March when I bring them Inside, I keep them in the warmest part of the house in winter in front of a small south facing window.

Outside all summer, I keep them in just morning sun and daylight after that. Mine never see full all day sun and I feed it consistently with 1/4 strength fertilizer which I think might be the key. By nature, their leaves want to yellow very rapidly if not fed and the amount of flowers in minimal. When I constantly feed them, their leaves stay a nice green and they flower continually. I can't wait for the plant to flower out within the next few days.

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the underlying colors of Judith and Strawberry Candy enough to keep them, Chris. I've seen pictures of them various times, and many look like the pink I had hoped to see in my garden. Another one that I bought because of seeing it as pretty pink in pictures on the web was Chorus Line. And mine is definitely not pink. But it is good performer and I still have a small clump in one my beds. A friend shared her Strawberry Fields Forever with me last fall, and I hope that I will like it better than SC. Ohhh, Matisse has an orangish throat? I was so busy looking at the petal coloration and the light eye, that I hadn't even noticed the throat.I love daylilies with orange/tangerine throats, so Matisse might really be a favorite. I have an orchid/lavender Allen Wild called Sugar Candy, which I have posted here before, and not only do I like the color of the petals and sepals, it has a tangerine throat and looks like it is glowing. From Debra's picture, I get that effect from Matisse. Red and coral colorations would work too, so I'd probably really like Cherry Chapeau as well. Linda

Again, EACH bloom is the most fragrant flower I have ever know (especially for daytime "wafting"). The nursery where I work is in Davie, Florida and yes we do have a few for sale. Oh well that's entirely different, don't even look at it, why would it bother you in the spam folder that means your email program is working as it should. Let it dispose of them or just click delete on the spam folder to get rid of them. I don't care or know what in in there it gets deleted. Don't you get fliers and junk mail in your real mailbox? I know I do and it goes directly into the trash can. Every time you visit websites they put tracker cookies on your pc . If you order online you give your email address, it gets shared among the "partners" they now have your email address, they share with their "partners". On and on. I have ordered from Amazon recently and twice now the company that had the product that I ordered from Amazon have emailed me directly asking for my opinion and asked for feedback. I don't like this new development, but I did place the order and I had to provide my email address. It is what it is, also Facebook and other social media that encourages sharing every thing well it's going to happen a lot. Expect that to increase not decrease. But not using that primary email address online and among friends will help. It's your friends that are the likely culprits, forwarding emails with long list of everyone's address on them. Use BCC if you must forward! And if someone you know is doing it and including your email address then tell them to stop. I see a signature quite often asking to please use BCC or remove their address before forwarding. If someone does not know how to do that by now, ask for help or use Google to learn more about proper etiquette in email forwarding.

Virginia, here's my original post, with the diagnostic photos I took then. Are they good enough to be helpful? I was thinking of the first-generation crosses with R. gigantea, which would be once-flowering, if I understand the matter correctly. But perhaps "Miss Mystery" is simply a Tea showing considerable Gigantea influence in her bloom form and general largeness. I have a couple of Tea-Noisettes and "Miss Mystery" doesn't strike me as being in the group, but possibly I'm looking at the wrong characteristics. It looks to me like a potential climber because it's big (like 'Archduke Joseph, for example), rather than a climber because it has lax or arching growth. It has that Tea look of jointed canes consisting of straight segments, if that makes sense. P.S. Sheila, your rose is beautiful! I hope it gets big for you! Mine doesn't have that deeper pink reverse yours shows.

Mike, I've been feeding mine 1/4 tsp of FP too. Mine has been growing taller but no buds on it yet, i think i just need to be more patient.

Have your Michelia alba bloomed yet? I'm always looking forward to see your pictures, please post more when you have the time. :)

Thanks for the fertilizing tips.
Yesterday I noticed a flower bud developing at the very tip of one of the branches on my B. gigantea. This will be the first time it's flowered so I'm very excited!

Mike you have so many buds on your Brunfelsia. The flowers look pretty large. Glad you were able to get your plant to bloom.

Will you heat your greenhouse over the winter months?
