I have the same problem and I'd like to know if there is anything I can do to get the butterfly ginger to bloom. Mine are in the ground, get lots of water (gray water) and seem to be triving. They get some dappled morning and noon sun through the trees( but are basically in shade), and a straight shot of afternoon sun for 2-3 hours. The plants/stalks/leaves are about 3 feet high. Last year they didn't bloom, last winter they were hit by some cold weather and died back but are looking healthy this year. But as of today no sign of blooms. Would a flowering and blooming fertilizer help?

This is my first year trying them. So far they got pretty sunburned because I had them growing inside over the winter. I'm hoping that they recover and become semi-nice looking plants by the end of the summer. I have some other really nice ones that are just sprouting. I think I'll be giving those some more shade. -Alex
