The numbers you see attached to Hoya names are collection numbers. The Hoyas that are in commerce were originally collected by private collectors, researchers and botanical gardens. The numbers are not meant to be helpful to a hobby grower they are for cataloging and recording plants and they may tell the collector of the plant the country, region etc where the plant was originally collected. The IPPS website you found is not of the same organization as the Hoya IPPS numbers and I have been unable to find a website for them. I think that it would be best to focus on the species and forget about the collection numbers unless there is a particular plant you are after that has a distinguishing trait that is different from the standard type of the species. Hoya taxonomy is not as well studied as many other plants so there is a lot to be worked out and name changes etc. are bound to happen. Many vendors do sell mislabeled plants but it is often a case of simply keeping the name that was attached to the plant when they received it and then selling it as said plant. John, I'd never heard of the company you mentioned so checked their webpage. They said something about they've loved the plant for years but just recently started their "farm". They also seem to just sell seedlings, nothing much registered except AG and Candy stripe both which are fairly common. Their prices weren't very good for just seedlings either. You can get registered cuttings for those prices. Personally, I'd stick with Brad (Brad's Buds and Blooms), Matt (one stop aloha on ebay)MPG, or Florida Colors. They sell registered plants and are very reputable. Just my 2cents

most sellers like burpee and thompson & morgan and park seeds and places like that are most reliable. i have bought from them. even the ones at walmart and lowes and home depot are good sellers. ipomoea is the species name for them. be careful how close your neighbors is as if too close no matter what you do it will cross pollinate. i love morning glories. go with the dealers like burpee. they know what they are selling. ferry morse at lowes is a good dealer. walmarts is good too. just depends on the color you want . you can find morning glory seedling pics on google. you can even post here as there are other fanatics like me for morning glories who can postive id them. one big thing is they dont like to be moved once planted. and i usually nick mine before planting. some people soak them then plant. several ways to do them but they dont like thier roots messed with. hope this helps
