Moving to Georgia!

We're moving to the land of longer seasons and nicer people!!! We have a property outside Athens and I'm really excited to be growing some plants that are marginal up here in PA and just to take advantage of our bigger patch of ground.

First question: Are there any figs that are particularly suited to Georgia beyond the usual one found in our yard there (and all the neighbors' yards)? I'm assuming it's Brown Turkey but I know there are dozens of varieties to be found.

Second question: I'll be doing some web programming for a Peony nursery and wanted to know if I should bother with barter. Are there any peonies well-suited to the Athens area? My wife particularly likes tree peonies. I just want good performance without too much struggle. Thanks in advance for your advice!
