This new species was only introduced 2 1/2 years ago and is quickly becoming quite popular. It is a wonderful tiny plant. I saw a photo of the site where it was found, a vertical rock cliff, with this plant growing on it with little bits of soil or moss, a solid carpet of tiny plants. I don't know if they found it anywhere else but this one site. Your plant looks really well grown. Oh, I should mention that it self pollinates readily and is easy to germinate in an enclosed environment (like a small pot inside a ziplock bag).
Oh yes, Korina - these seeds are from the same plant. I can attest to the self-polinating habit. All my seeds come from one plant in a co-worker's office. Basically, every single flower sets seed with no help. It's a very good bloomer too.
This particular cup of seeds was left in the back corner of my plant shelf (not under the lights, but off to the side) in a ziploc bag. I forgot about it for a few months, and voila! it has buds.
I can't believe it can grow on a vertical cliff. Amazing.
Squeeeee! I looked *very* carefully and I GOT GREEN! Three or four tiny specks of new plants! YIPPEEEE! I only sowed them on the 2nd. Goody goody, now I can plant the rest maybe.
Well, how do those little buds look now? I'd love to get my hands on one of these. *sighing with envy, pulling out pockets to reveal lent and spiderwebs*
Komi, I just sowed the second batch of seed you sent me today..I hope they are still viable. I can't believe I forgot them, its been a hectic summer and fall...... Thanks again for sending them!
I hate to start another thread on micro minis, so I'm going to resurrect this thread.
The White Sprite opened today:
{{gwi:830213}}
I grow it in this little yoghurt jar with the top open, unlike the other micro minis that I grow inside a glass cookie jar with the lid closed (or some other enclosed space). These are pusilla and Rio.
I purchased a plant recently and was able to get a seed pod which I then crushed and planted the tiny seeds. I got green specks, however, in a short period of time it seemed that they disappeared and no plants. I tried a second time and the same thing seems to be happening now. I have them in plastic container with the lid on and they seem to be dry so I water when I notice the dryness. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?
