it was 28 at 7AM what about everyone else...snow...cold..?

I was up and down all night. At 3:30 AM it was 32 and at 5:30 AM it was 30 and then at 7AM it was 28. They say it is "darkest before the dawn"...coldest too I guess. Hope everyone is safe and tucked in til this blowing snow is on its way. Stay warm and well...c

Oh, yes. Chilly here for the next three nights and then again I think for Christmas. My veggie beds are just the exact size to be covered with fitted bed sheets, so they're all covered and I hope snug. They can take cold, just not wet frost on the leaves.

Stay warm! I don't know about snow here. Blech.

Temps about the same here. No freeze in the forcast for the next 5 days.

7000ft, I am totally convinced you ought to write a book. Your family sounds very interesting and it sounds like you all work as a cooperative of sorts. How much of your food do you produce? The tomatoes that I grow are primarily for sauce, so I use Roma-type tomatoes. They are odd-looking, being long and quite large. The variety I grew this year was Super San Marzano. I've tried some others, but this one is the best. The sauce-type tomatoes are awesome for making sauce. They are very meaty with minimal juice and seeds. Making sauce is a breeze because you can skip the steps for squeezing the juice and seeds out. According to the catalogs, some varieties have pectin in them that helps to thicken the sauce. We ended up with 25 jars of sauce in the freezer. That is a record for us, so we are pleased! That's 25 dinners during ski season that I don't have to cook. :) I also grow a cherry tomato and some sandwich-type tomatoes. I've had good luck with Early Wonder, which is early yet tasty. (way better than early girl!) Inside the GH we enjoy our first tomatoes in mid-July. Without the GH we are lucky to get any red tomatoes at all. I'm sure it's the same for you. My gardening efforts are pretty much solo, but my husband was instrumental in building the GH and in helping look after things as needed. He is an expert at raising seedlings because I tend to travel a lot in the spring. He also built a root cellar and he is fully on board with our quest to grow as much food as possible. It's a bit of an oddball pursuit, so I'm happy that he's into it!

Boy Oh Boy!!! Everyone is spilling their jaws on me! And Your right Thinkdirt,I have a tool pouch equipped with hand shovels and pruners and loppers and well you get the picture in my car.(Just in case Sue is with me!LOL) I remember for Valentines Day one year -While all my friends were getting Chocolates and Flowers- I got a Army Folding Shovel.(((Grins)))! I thought it was cute,And I loved it. And Sue ,You shouldn't have warned JoAnn,Now she and everybody else is on to me,!!I really just love you guys to death and Cherish any and all road trips we experience together.What fond memories we are gathering in my old age!!!LMBO(BUTT)!!I'm looking forward to experiencing alot more road trips with you both in the near future.(As long as you two think you can handle it. (ME)LOL!LOL!OH And ---- I never minded getting lost (As long as I had plenty of gas) I never minded running out of gas(As long as I could laugh about it)(And had a cell phone LOL!)(And JoAnn was with me) And I never minded asking my friends to dig up plants along the roadside,As long as my friends(SUE) don't mind.(BIG GRINS)!!! Are we going to have a Winter?? It is hot and raining here. Too weird to think the days will be getting longer-it seems like Winter is still a ways off. I think I'll get a new Persimmon, maybe more Coffee Arabicas, and am looking forward to watching the Chaya, Moringa and Neem grow up. Have Cotton seedlings, Annona seedlings, 10 new Banana varieties, and lots of thriving Fig cuttings, to go with the other fruiting plants. Would like a Sanbokan Lemon to add to the collection, but with such problems with citrus here, would hate to lose it to the Canker Police. In Spring, should have plenty to do with all the current trees blooming/fruiting. Will have to rig wire cages to save some fruit from the tree rats. Toba, Ae Ae Nanas are worth the $$$ for their amazing beauty. I admire mine every day-it is right in the entrance alcove of the house, and is stunning! Hope you get one! Lisa

Thx everyone!! :) I am so under gun...I thought I would have another week to decide but the contractors want to start painting tomorrow BEFORE the cabinets go in. I decided to go with the darker shade in the pics....the Stratton Blue. I agree that the colors are not showing up well on the monitor. After the job is done, if I truly don't like it, I will take my time and try to consider a brownish gold tone like in the suggestions above. Part of me really wanted a spa-like calming blue which is why I am trying to work off the Palladian Blue card. olychick - I love that picture of the room with the palladian blue ceiling. I never even considered doing something like that and I really would love to know what the color is on those walls! That is really a gorgeous beautiful room! Soooooo if I hate the Stratton after it is all up and done, I will re-paint....

10Â°F at my mom's house this morning when I went out to get her newspaper in the dark at 6am. How that delivery person ever delivered her paper "on time",with the roads such a mess, I'll never know.

Glad ya'll checked in. We had a wonderful sunny day and now we are back down to the 28 mark again by dawn. Then we should move on up to the 60's in time for our DD to arrive from SLC. She just told me they are having snow all week. Hopefully her flight will be on time and all systems go for the upcoming holiday. May you all be safe and warm and in the arms of your loved ones this coming week. c

It was 24 degrees this morning with frost (Tupelo area). But the trend is to warm up. Thankfully we've also had a decent amount of rain this fall. I will look forward to the warm weather, though, as I drive down to near Gulfport for Christmas.

Ha ha. When I read " 28 at 7AM" I thought, boy that's hot.
I was automatically thinking Celsius.

49 here yesterday morning and this morning. That is COLD for us down here in the tropics. : -) It was breezy and chilly all day. I did Christmas baking after errands, and the house was nice and cozy and warm.

Hope you all keep warm and snug up in the cold wintry weather.

I think we are having the same weather as Flowerlady. It's almost 10:00am, and the current temperature is 49 degrees. The high today is supposed to reach 67. I would love to be home to do some work in the garden! "sigh".

Those of you in CA, the midwest and the northeast, please stay safe and warm. I have family and friends scattered throughout the US and I do worry and care about each of you.

I think we were 16Â° yesterday morning and still had some traces of ice and snow, but today the sun is shining and it is 56Â°. I think the next few days are supposed to be normal which for us this time of year is the 40's and 20's daytime and nighttime.

Thankfully the big predicted snowstorm passed us and headed up to New York and other parts NE. I am feeling for you all.

Only got down to 30 last night. Was sunny all day here but didn't warm up much. We will warm some every day and then we will supposedly have a good chance of rain Thurs...just as DD gets here from snowy SLC> I hope everyone cont. to be safe and warm.

We head to the condo at Miramar Beach on 1/2 for 5 days so should have good weather and lots of run and bike time...c
