Amy, I know I've commented on your garden before. It's just perfect. Exactly what I want the front of my house to look like. I have the river birch, dwarf evergreen, iris, tree peony, ferns, hostas, lavender, coral bells, sedum, azalea, hydrangea, , korean lilac, frothergilla, hardy geraniums, balloon flowers, coneflowers, holly, chelone, liatris, lillies, rose and boxwood. I wintersowed Sweet William, Lauren poppies and sea holly that should bloom this year. My problem is I can't get it in my head how many plants it takes to fill in the space. I think I am putting in a lot, but then it still looks bare. The garden is going on its fifth year. I should have my act together by now. I'll try to post some spring shots later. If anyone is interested in getting a jump on spring planting (like me- I just can't help it sometimes!) I'm having a little bit of an open house tomorrow for my neighbors, because I'm clearing out some plants and garden supplies and really didn't want to just throw them away. I'd love to save it all for the spring trade- there's tons of plants I'm looking for- but I they're taking up too much room :) Here's a list of things I'm getting rid of, and if anyone would like any of it, just reply for my address and you can come over and get what you want, first come first served! I'm in the Decatur/Emory/Clarkston area. 2 lady banks climbing roses 1 red flower carpet (miniature blooms) standard tree rose 2 unknown multicolored climbing roses (I forget the varieties, mea culpa) 1 unknown climbing yellow rose (excellent repeat bloomer) 2-3 climbing roses whose name I forget but who have white blooms with hot-pink-edged petals, very pretty 1 red climbing rose called Altissimo (single blooms, very bright red) 1 miniature light-pink climbing rose 1 truly enormous climbing new dawn rose. this thing has stems inches across at the base, and until we cut it back for transplanting was probably 15 or 20 feet up in the air. it kills me to get rid of it because it literally blooms all year, but we just took down 4 big trees and I have nothing to support it on anymore. I'll need some help digging it up from whoever takes it. 1 hybrid tea rose that hasn't been blooming well for me, I forget the variety but it has small pink blooms While I'm at it... I also have 2 rigid pond liners for a pond that never really got built (these will be a job to extricate, as the area has gotten weedy, but they're pretty nice still) some pond plants that were growing in the sort-of pond any number of rose of sharon plants that my husband would LOVE if someone wanted to dig up and take. Want a rose of sharon hedge? We've got you covered. They bloom pink, white and purple and get 6-8 feet tall if not cut back. strawberry starts from runners the azaleas in my front yard (they bloom white) are all slated to get removed, so if any of you want a dozen azaleas (or even one!), we would be extremely happy if we were saved the effort of digging them out. They're in a very untidy area, though, with ivy mixed in. I believe there is also some forsythia mixed up in there that's up for grabs. And I have some flowerpots too (some are quite large), and some gardening chemicals, which I'll set out in the driveway. a large, bright-blue rain barrel (spigot not yet installed) tons of crocosmia Quite a few grow lights and light fixtures for seed starting There's probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Phil in Ohio, I'm not sure what you mean but the pictures are all from my own plants. I seldom alter them at all and then only to sharpen one thats not clear enough. I took so many this summer with my new camera that I could usually come up with one that was clear and in good light. Phil in N.Carolina, One month to spring makes me EXTREMELY jealous! We are 2 1/2 to 3 months away. I looked at my notes from last year and this year we're way behind that. We had snowdrops by now at least. I guess I started clean up last year in the Middle of March and was intensly busy from the begining of April on. I just remembered, I planted lots of bulbs last fall. I'd forgotten, being so focused on hostas. I'll look up when they were blooming and maybe start something on the conversations side. McT This was taken yesterday after a kind neighbor plowed us out. I'd been shoveling snow myself up to then but it's too deep and too heavy now.

Yay! My garden is sprouting with new things every day. My bloodroot multiplied quite drastically since last year. Started out with about 4 in one patch, and 2 in the other. Now I have about 8 in the bigger patch and 6 in the smaller. My trillium grandiflorums popped up over night. I was worried about them not coming up this year because of the company I got it from were not all that promising. But out of the 10 I order about half of them have come up so far. Viburnums ready to burst. False hellebore sprouting along with the poppy. My garden is pretty full. Yet I have some new plants to put in. My white wood aster, tennesee ostrich fern, cinnamon fern, maidenhair fern, leatherwood fern, celandine poppy, and more. Trying to aim for shrubs for now on. Depends how well I control myself at the native plant sale next month actually haha. And then. no more. no no no no no no no more. Hopefully.
