I used to do that, even though no one ever came here for Halloween. I live out in the c-r-e-e-p-y boonies where it is dark. Nobody comes by out here - ever! They either go to parties or they go into the bigger towns to Trick or Treat.

But I have always enjoyed doing the place up, even if it is just me and all my cats to enjoy it. I haven't done it in about 5 years. That was fun. Yeah...I took pics of me in costume and the front yard. Wonder where I put that BIG BLACK SPIDER? Hmmmm......

I think I will do it again this year.

Does builder rubble count? I hope so, because that's as good as it will get here! We have finally started the works in the outside of the house that we've been waiting to do for the last few years, so all I can see around the garden is rubble, rubble and more rubble. Looks very scary to me. Oh, but just you wait, if we manage to survive this ordeal I'll be in Christmas mood big time!

I bet MrMorgan is going to do a fantastic production, as always. I haven't seen him here for a while. I hope this Halloween thread lures him out of lurkedom.

I have a window box high above one of my front windows. For the past two years, I've set a witch in it. She's big and has bendable legs, so looks very realistic. But, I've never decorated the garden; except now that you have mentioned it, I think it would be fun to stand a skeleton on the other side of the garden gate, looking out. Or something else spooky.

Sounds like fun! I put up a few decorations in the house, just for myself. I'm also out in the boonies where nobody comes trick or treating.

We live on a private road (only 6 neighbors go by) and are over 200 feet back from the road. No one would see our decorations.

We live on a little one-way street, all the kids have grown up and moved on. So no I don't decorate anymore but I still buy the treats, I buy what DH likes as some years we might get only one or two at the door. Most years we don't get any trick or treaters.
When my daughter's children were small family and friends use to buy fireworks, when the kids had finished their rounds collecting their booty they came home to....
In the back yard there was a bonfire, hotdogs, hamburgers, cold and hot drinks, a large fireworks display from all the rockets etc. everyone had bought. Friends, family, neighbors, gathered for a couple of hours of fun. The dad's let off the fireworks in a safe manner and we all enjoyed the rest of the evening.

Our town has many Victorian houses, and lots of people from out of town come to trick or treat because our houses are sort of creepy at night! (plus lots of people decorate.) I think last year we got between 200 and 300 kids.

Anyway, we always decorate the garden. There's a little skeleton that sits in the bird bath, and 2 big ones that sit in some small trees, along with a creepy monster with a glow-in-the-dark head. There's also a sort of moldering corpse guy that sits on the platform bird feeder.

I have lots of those plastic pumpkin buckets that kids use for candy, and I hang those in the tree branches with battery operated strobe lights in them. I also put them near any monsters that need spotlighting. -The skeleton in the birdbath has one in his lap.

I made a flock of tiny ghosts* and those hang from the arbor and tree branches. There's a whole bunch of realistic hanging bats I bought from the thrift store that hang with them. In the flowerbeds along the walkway, there are three scary monsters that I made; Two are skulls on stakes with tree branches for arms (the twiggy ends look like hands) and black fabric draped around them so they look like they are wearing capes and robes.

I am really proud of my ghost lady that I made out of a stake, some strategic padding,tree branches for arms, a wire colander for the head and lots of white thrift store shears. She really looks like a Victorian ghost lady with an 'empty' face. She carries a little battery operated skull like a lantern. I've got more of these skulls hanging in the shrubbery and trees. (The 99 Cents Only store still has them, if you want some.)

We also decorate the porch with a motion activated monster in the rocking chair, lots of spider webs and spiders, and on the rocking bench some decapitated heads and a bloody saw...Sigh -Can you tell I love Halloween?

Oh, oh. I threw out a plastic skull and a little black cup with pink inside and bat cutouts the other day when I was cleaning in the shed rooms.

Edna, I read your post to DH and he laughed at the idea of a 6 year old on a tricycle giving such a cheeky critique of your graveyard. It sounds wonderful to me.

I love to look at the decors of others.

Even more, I love to look at pix of black (maroon, deep purple, near black) plants. Could somebody with dark leaved plants start a thread in the Gallery?

We do a little bit of decorating, but I haven't really been happy with it. Mainly hanging some ghosts and putting out a few pumpkin lights...

I have lots of black cats - real ones. They really add to the Halloween decor every year! (hahaha)

I love decorating for Halloween and Christmas, though right now I don't have much... I did do up around my door. I've got some cute little glittery signs and same lanterns with faces on them. A jack-o-lantern door mat, and a fall wreath I made. But the finishing touch is when my big fat black cat lays on the stoop... lol

The kid came by last night and said "Hey lady! when are you going to make it scarier like the house across the street?"

I don't do a Halloween theme but do a harvest theme and leave it up till the day after Thanksgiving. This year my husband built me this neat cart after finding the wheel on a recent trip up to PA - I just LOVE it......

Witchy Poo didn't make it up to the window box this year. I hung some Indian corn on the tall schoolhouse door and put an orange hubbard squash on the stone stoop instead. The cart and yard displays look great.

the little girls across the street are so cute ~ today they told me they wouldn't come to my house to trick-or-treat if i didn't put my skeleton away!!!

O, so cool here, the kids apparently go to private parties. However, they have cool parties at the 24th of May, etc. I'll eat my toasted pumpkin seeds and make pumpkin soup!!!
