Bayer 3-in-1 will get rid of some of those bugs. It will also kill the predator wasps, ladybugs, and any mantids and create an environment where the bad bugs return sooner than their predators. For those aphids, rose slugs, and mites, a simply spray of water is nearly as effective as a kill'em-all insecticide. These are the easier of the pests to knock off of rose bushes. The rain should be part of your pest control, and not contributing to the infestation. I believe all of the ones you listed prefer hot & dry conditions.

I saw the dreaded cucumber beetle yesterday. Those little b@$t@rd$ love my brugs. They know when you're coming and hide! They killed one of my red brug seedlings last year, before I knew. All that was left was a stick and some leaf stems. They lay tiny orange eggs on underside of leaves. Good luck with your pest problem.

i gave up on roses a long time ago .. 100 hybrid T's .. because of the chemical regimen needed for perfect plants ... like 4 to 5 sprayings over the course of the season ... of a multitude of products ... but jean is correct.. if you just a have a bush or two.. its a LITTLE COSMETIC DAMAGE.. and not worth the effort ... be amazed by the show.. rather than horrified with it ken

I've never used DE against slugs/snails, but I do know that Sluggo or some generic equivalent works very well (just sprinkle it around the base of your affected plants, you don't have to do the whole garden). It could also be flea beetle damage, which usually isn't fatal and should end when it starts really warming up, or earwigs (which I have no idea how to eradicate). Usually, I'll just take care of the snails - which are my worst killers of small seedlings - and just leave everything else alone. Earwigs/flea beetles won't kill anything except very small seedlings, and they just leave you with some ugly plants until they grow out of it, snails/slugs are a different story. *edit* you might also cross-post on thevegetables forum, you might get more suggestions there, too. I'd suggest saying something about where you garden either in your post or changing your profile to reflect it, so people can give more accurate advice on that forum.
