Enclosing Trees against a South facing heated wall any ideas?

Hello to the group,

I have 3 fig trees planted against a South facing concrete block wall of my garage. The garage is heated in winter to 40 degrees no more or no less. Is it safe to assume I will benefit from the heat transfer through the block and the fact the trees are south facing?

That said I am planning on covering on 3 sides and building an enclosue of sorts. I am wondering which would be a better material Shade Cloth or Tarp material.

The material will not cover the tree but make up the 3 walls thereby enclosing them.

I also plan on treating all 3 trees with wiltpruf as added protection.

I find climate is changing here on LI in zone 7 and notice many folks covering their trees tightly and end up with rot and mold most likely i suspect due to the many warm days we get in the winter.

Any input or suggestions would be appreciated,

Joe
