Mass planting of Chionodoxa

For the past several years I've been toying with the idea of planting chionodoxa, forbesli all along the inside of the hedge tunnel. My ideal would be to have this beautiful blue carpet running along each side. Not too wide and not in a straight line, but planted to appear very woodland like. The only thing that stops me is that I've always tried to keep this space very natural looking, no plantings other than the hedge itself. I'm thinking after blooming, the plant's foliage would pretty much disappear; but I have never planted Glory of the Snow in mass plantings. Would it remain grass-like?

There should be enough light, as the privet doesn't leaf up until late Spring. John Scheepers catalog offers 1,000/$99.75. If I do this, I guess I should take a tape and measure off a foot, then determine how many bulbs I'll need per foot. Bet I'd be surprised just how many I'll need. ha The bulbs I have planted elsewhere over the years are slow to multiple, but I wonder about that too.
