My mother has kept this braided Pachira Aquatica for 2-3 years in the shade on our patio, bringing it inside during the winter.
It's been growing steadily, but this year many of the new growths have been malformed and misshapen. Occasionally, a new growth will develop perfectly fine, but the majority of the leaves are looking really sickly. What is this and what can I do to help the plant?
The leaves start out curled up and frilly and as they develop, the leaves grow to about normal size but maintain a glossy sheen and a waxy texture unusual to the rest of the plant. The veins in these leaves are also less structured and curl around the leaf instead of branching out in parallel lines like in the normal leaves.
