It is SO UGLY the forum won't allow the picture to be shown! LOL.
Luckily I haven't seen anything in my seedling bed that is ugly enough to post, but still have many buds yet to open on some I haven't seen yet. Maybe later. Fun thread, hope to see where this may go....LOL

Yikes! a bit unusual, to say the least!

I once bought something called "French Lingerie" - was described on the tag as "ivory with purple edge" - turned out to be dirty peach with a ugly wine coloured edge. Without a doubt, the worst daylily I ever saw.

I don't have any seedlings (ugly or otherwise) but I thought this thread would be fun to follow, so I am just bumping this back up to the top. Timberohio, if no one else posts a photo, then you win. Very ugly daylily.

It's a shame that it is so splotchy, because I really like that dark pink color.

I have only one seedling blooming, and it isn't ugly. Maybe we can do one called the ugliest bloom, then anyone who has an ugly bloom they can share can participate, seedling or not.

Yikes! My seedlings are just ready to bloom this week, so I'll see how many dogs I get out of the bunch, lol. I don't know, they'll have to really FAIL to beat these two contenders!

My ugliest seedling is one call "Poop Eye." It is brown. I know some people like brown daylilies, but I can't stomach them.

Those are some pretty bad daylilies, but nothing has come close to Pustule from last year. I'll keep an eye on this thread, though...

The daylilies with polychromatic coloration and speckling are actually quite interesting. Almost a tie-dye/batique effect. I would think they would appeal to those that fondly recall the Woodstock era. Would be interesting to see the first in a large mass planting.

This one is out of Coquina Key X Carved Initials. The "petals" look like plastic, but when you break them off for giggles, they snap like celery. This is the FFO; the other blooms were the same.

Chantal, you should write copy for the Onion.

I think you should go with a theme. May I suggest EPISTAXIS for this flower? It complements your sadistic impulse to snap petals when you approach it. The color also recommends the name.

Debra: Oh my gosh, I LOVE your seedling! That's exactly the color I'm so hot after. If it begins to get on your nerves so much that you'd like to rehome it, just let me know! I'll happily come get it, and I'll even keep the garden name you bestowed on it. :D

Funniest thing about "EPISTAXIS" is that I'm using it for breeding. It's crazy fertile - every daub sets a pod.

I cannot know for certain, but I used to work in Drosophila/nematode/plant genetics, and coming from the cross of two different lines of sculpted flowers, I suspect I have synergy between TWO genes that cause the sculpted phenotype when mutated. So I have to see what it will produce down the line.

The only thing I have is an oldie that has ( believe it or not ) improved over the years. I would love to post the poem if I could find it of mine. Brown trowsers is his name. But he is an established one and I keep him for kicks..

I don't want to sound cocky, but I think I may have the winner here. I kept this from last year because it was late and is such a vigorous plant--now 4 huge fans--hoping that the flowers would improve. I thought it was bad last year, but this year gave it a new definition of ugly. Wish I had a creative name, but I just call it Yuck.

This thread has definitely been good for a chuckle! So far, I don't have any seedlings that demand to be posted, but my bloom season is still young, so that very well may change. I definitely believe that some of the names/descriptions should add points in the contest... what a creative group of people!

ROAD RASH exactly conjures up this scrapped up daylily... more a gravelly surface wound than a flower.

Brown Trowsers written by leslie Denise Brooks.

A frightful lily
caught my eye,
while walking
through the bed,
It had the shade
of trowsers brown,
and smelled of
something dead.

It's petal's with it's
troubling hue,
joined at it's lime-
green throat,
where spindly
re-productive glands,
were barely held a float.

The bee's did buzz
but would not touch
the unbecoming flower,
I stopped to sniff
and fought the urge,
to find the nearest shower.

Please, have mercy on me! The second stanza was hilarious, but the last line really did me in.

Um. Renee and I must be sick. I kinda like brown trousers, too.... I mean, really, could you imagine taking that one over to a blue eyed program? Or into a red/cerise line? That velvety surface is very pretty.

Just wondering--does it truly smell bad? Cuz, THAT's a deal breaker!

Ellie....I had been looking for my bookmark with that poem on it. You sent it to me in a Christmas Card one year...LOVE IT.

Renee, there was another paragraph but it was unprintable so I deleted it and lost it somehow. I laugh everytime I read it too.. If you could see BT when the poem was written, you probably wouldn't like it much. In fact, I am looking at it on a bookmark...LOL!! I'm glad you enjoyed it...

Eric, no it doesn't really smell bad. BT wasn't bloom very long since it has such a small bud count. Otherwise, some folks would like it besides you and Renee..
