Potted vs Planted in soil

Dear Forum,

I searched the forum for discussions on Figs that are potted vs planted in the garden, but could not find any. I apologize in advance if this is a repeat question.

I have decided to get an other fig plant. I already have one in the ground and it is growing at the rate of 6 inches every week. I want to know if I can plant the new one in a pot. If so, how big (in liters or gallons ) should the pot be?

My experience with hibiscus and roses is that potted plants come to flower and fruit sooner because they don't spend a lot of time developing roots. Is this true for figs too?

If I decide to pot the new fig, how often should I change the top soil, how often should I remove the entire plant and re-pot it. I live in a hot tropical climate ( similar to Miami, Florida during summer ).

Can I pot the entire plant in vermi-compost instead of soil ? ( I am thinking, it will make the re potting process much easier )

PS: My fig keeps making at least 1 new leaf every day and I am so proud of it :)
