What are my options for growing figs in Minnesota?

Hello all. My wife and I have recently purchased a new home with a large yard (1.2 acres), and I am making a list of all the fruiting and nut-producing trees and shrubs I want to plant in the next few years. I was curious if there is any way I could grow a fig tree and get fruit from it, considering we are borderline zone 4/5.

My thoughts so far are to buy the most cold-hardy variety of fig I can find (Hardy Chicago?), grow it in a very large pot placed on a wheeled dolly, and move it into our garage in winter. The garage is unheated, but it is fully insulated, with a 2-bedroom addition above it that should provide added heat retention. I would think that would be sufficient for a zone 5 hardy plant, wouldn't it?

Would this work? If not, are there any other options that I should consider? Thanks!
