Nice fig. Enjoy the rest but give at least 1 or 2 a chance to split.

yes it was picked to early for sure looking at inside and outer skin, but i understand the temptation, hey if not this year wait till next year as the taste should improve as tree matures along with good weather and you pick when fig is darker and drooping nice on tree, and soft too touch and has a beautiful nice color, and to the touch feels like squeezing a babies cheek,you give fig a gentle twist and it comes off willingly for it wants to please its grower
then you cut open and see what looks like a liquid gel on the red meat and seeds, you slowly bring it to your mouth with anticipation, now dont drop it whatever ya do (remember the 10 second rule if you do ) its in your mouth and you chew slowly very slowly and savior the moment for its a fig your fig what you grew and now you get to enjoy the accomplishment, after the taste wanes in your mouth you say to yourself i want more for this is truely something.

Thanks for the advice guys. Now I am waiting to let the figs get really ripe before I pick them.

Hi Joe, My little Hardy Chicago had a lone fig on it but I removed it
it didn't have any chance of ripening!

Maybe next year
One member that just pulled all his posts & threads from Figs4fun forum, emailed a tacky email to me today saying in part to keep telling ya'll what pretty pictures everyone is posting, so I will do just that "nice pictures Joe"

looks good, i can see the difference from the first one you pick and this one just posted. As the season gets even later if you like to try , leave a fig or 2 on till they start to actually shrivel a little bit to long with humid nights though and they might start to get mold , the color inside will be darker and the taste will be a little different also. This is what happens with my hardy chicago.
If you do save a couple Joe let us know your thoughts good or bad please.
