Well im a terrible guesser but it looks very similar to one i have but i dont really know what the one i have is but from pictures i have seen on web sites im guessing what they call Beall not sure if thats spelled right but anyways thats what im think mine might be but mine has a more redder inside but again maybe its the climate i dont know.So im guessing yours is Beall but im probably wrong.

No idea to what variety it belongs. But I know it would make my wife very happy if I add another great fig to my collection. She has been chowing down almost all the figs daily. If she is happy I am happy.

The person Whou said Beal is right.
This is Beal from UCDAVIS collection.
It is true it is fig mosaic affected,but with good care I see it ,is shaking it off.
The resulting fruit tell the story better than me.
Also I counted the fruits today.
It was 27,total,and consumed 4 to date and so 23 are still on the 3 yrs old fig.
Not bad,for a ucdavis tree.

Hermans Beall is showing lite inside color, mine last year showed that as well , this year its 5th year now showing a lite red inside im not sure Mine is a beall. Last year it had a very melt in your mouth surgary taste along with a melon aftertaste, this year i only had 1 off that tree that although had that sugary taste not the melon taste i dont know why7 Also mine always leaves many unripe fruits as it gets to cold to fast here, as for Herman i cant speak maybe his tree ripens most of its fruit. I simply guessed its name as it reminded me of mine not from this year though but what mine looked like last year compared to his. I looked thru many many sites and found Encanto site and finally after looking at what seem like a million pictures found what they call Beall that looks the closet match to mine therfore my guess. Although i may never know for sure. I did send a cutting to a very nice gentleman in Texas and i cant wait to see what his tree will look like in 2 years at most as he sent me pictures and it looks like nothing i sent him it just took of growing as it really loves his climate i can see as opposed to my lousy short growing season. Sorry to ramble on in this thread. But im sure Hermans Beall is the best True picture of out an inside of Beall fig you will see.

Martin:Beall,Has pink interior only on the figs that are caprified.
Jon Picture is from UCDAVIS tree and shows caprified and uncaprified fruits on the same tree.
Uncaprified fruits are allwayes amber.
If your tree is not from UCDAVIS,and if it is Pink Inside ,then is not Beall because no caprification take place in your place.
You are going to introduce another Beall in the trade.
That how fig confusion is created.

By the way Martin:The fig that Jon ,has in his Garden as Beall is not a true Bill.
After he has seen the Beall at UCDAVIS,he concluded that he has a Kind of Brown Turkey Listed as Beall on his site.
And That one hasred interior all the time.
He also posted Pictures from UCDAVIS tree on his site under Beall,and realised the difference.

first no offense taken. My unknown is funny as last year and this year the melon taste is not there, the sugary taste is there just like last year but the inside color of fig last year was similar to yours but this year its taken on a red color, i just dont understand figs period the way they grow. Like i said my fig im just guessing at and it will always remain unknown until they have a home gardeners DNA test which i doubt i live to see that. Its great you can post a known variety here on forum and it is appreciated for us to see a true type. The only thing i know as i have been eating them a long time is when i like or dislike a fig. I did have a mature brown turkey at one time groing in a half whiskey barrel and i know it seems like some just think of it as a rather common fig but to me when fully ripe its a pretty good tasting fig i think you might agree, but when i gave to neighbor as he adores them it died when he put in his shed. As for mine like i have said it leaves so many unripe figs cause it needs a warmer climate than mine and its too bad because the taste to me is great, but Cecil now has a small plant from mother tree and it should do very well in his area.
Oh yes im sorry for long post thats me, but i just picked another ripe one from this tree and i show it now on a new thread, please look.

Hi George:I do not see a problem with it as long as the person who show the picture is honest about the qualities of the cultivar.
If we all grow only exceptional cultivar for ourself then the whole world has to gain,because only the good cultivars spreads while the mediocre dissapear.
I see nothing wrong with that.

Is just That I want to embold people to be allwayes looking to improve there stock,by aquireing new superior cultivars any time they get a chance.I find this to be a very healthy Hooby,that will help everybody,and hurt nobody.
I wish I had a New Jersey gardener to tell me about a plum,a peach a pear,a Quince,a cherry,an apricot,that will grow and produce reliable fruits here every year without any poisons spraying.
I allwayes wanted to grow them here but all the varieties I tried turn out to be only disaster,like in the case of Santa Rosa plum I had from Wich I consumed, a half plum(other half was spoiled)in seven years,of taking best care and spraying religiouselly,every 10 days.And That half plum was better tasting than any plums I bought in any store.

Ah Gorgi keep the posting coming its great to read. Everyone has different postings some excellent, some unusual postings , everyones different in opinons about fig taste , how weather affects theres, what grows good in a certain climate its just great to have such diversity. Some take there figs seriously and have a valued investment along with there priceless time taking care of them, while others are just happy to have a few tree's eat the figs and they leave it at that. I think a lot here fall somewhere in the middle and some fall in the more serous aspect. We all here though have at least 1 thing in common we love to eat figs.

I had the pleasure of tasting a Beall last night. I went to a CRFG's meeting and we have a tasting table. I took 1 of each. Had Black Mission, Flanders, and Long Yellow. I grabbed 1 that I did not know. They were not labeled. It did not look all that great on the outside, it had what looked like sunscald. I was standing outside eating it and I happen to be walking with the man that brought them. I said what is this, he said Beall. My eyes popped because I had seen this thread and the interior caught my eye. I may not be the best judge because I LOVE figs and I seem to like all kinds but BEALL was FANTASTIC. I was in Heaven. I have plans on putting as many as I can get my paws on.

As far as Beall, James Robin said it's very late for our area. so I'm not sure if it will bear the crop on time every year.
if you're interested in an apricot that does well, try Jerseycot. I grafted one on my existing tree, no spry for 4 years and has been bearing excellent crop yearly. Quince I'm trying the Aromatnaya which still need some spraying. I gave up on plums, they need the most spraying here.
Cherries, I"m trying Sour cherries because I was told that they're more resistant to diseases here.

In fact I grew 3 cultivars in my Backyard.
Mancurian,one other from Michigan University,andone another.
I ended up with them about 8 yrs ago that is why I do not remember the names.
I did not get one to grow till ripe.
So thanks for the good news.
Aromatnaya I had.I allwayes had at least 2 worms in every fruit,distorting it badly.
It is the 2 main parasites.One asian and one European,that embed in fruits as soon as they are formed.
WE have them both in New Jersey.
Yes Sour Cherry is possible to grow,that i agree.

I want to answer Bass about Beall being late in our area.
So Bass!!! you Belive James Robins from Louisiana telling you that Beall is late in New Jersey,and you do not believe me ,wich I grow it inground here in Nj,for three years now,and had fruits last year too.
How do you know he was talking from experience with the same Beall.
Ray Givan stated that the Beall growing in the south has a red interior therefore is not a true Beall.
Also James Robin never grew figs in New Jersey,to know for sure.
I am not a healer man,or witch Eather.
I do not have a greenhouse like you do,to keep them inside there over the winter.
