First Day Of Fall

Well weather is cooperating so far , i actually had 5 figs from my Sal's yesterday and should have maybe 5 more today. I really thought the ones left on tree would not ripen anymore due to some mid 40 temps at night we have had early last week, but i was wrong. The pictures below are of the unknown tree i have that produces large figs and always sporadic and late, a few here a few there.

The Fall season is here too, It is only getting up to a forcasted 88 degrees here today! I hate these cold snaps!

Well i do like a comfortable 75 to 80 with low humidity, i bet you sneeze and you start sweating. :)~
Fall is my favorite season though, summers although they seem short here can be hot, our springs can be cold, winters can be well down right cold, but someting about fall and the leaves changing and low humidity is real nice here. Hopefully Fall will stick arround a while and not go into winter to fast this year.

Thanks Dublinbay for your compliment on the Fairy. Mine pretty much blooms non stop from early Spring until frost. It's a great rose. Just give yours a couple of years to get established. Thanks also for your compliment on the porch garden! What you can't see is what is behind the fence to the right of the picture... the pond, the waterfall, the roses, the pot getto, the ... You get the idea. Karolina11 - Relax! Your Lady of Shallott will spend a year adjusting and then, take off big time! The adage that roses sleep their first year, creep their second year and leap the third holds true for the Lady. The first year mine just sat there. It produced a couple of small, off colored blooms and had me worried that I'd even received the right rose. This year (creep year) it's bloomed like crazy even through temps in the upper 90's. Height is about 3.5 feet. Next year? Yikes! I think a severe pruning is in my future! LOL And Ebb Tide? Geez. All I can say is that I really, really want one! LOL You're such an enabler! K

Thanks all. BELLE ISLE LIPSTICK did very good this year. I've had this planting since 2008 which started out as a double fan. Increased okay. Hope you do well with yours Judy! Temps are moderating this week by staying in the upper 50's here during the night and have reached low 70's during the day. All this rain we are getting I think has something to do with it. I'm sure we will head back down again. We are in the temp swings now. Julia

I tried to take pix of the shelves in my curio, but most didn't turn due to flash, glass, lgt from bay window. Anyway, here's a couple. The little seahorses on the top are S&P shakers, the dolphin is purple marble that I found on eBay. Also found the purple starfish there last year, got a small bag of 8 of them. I saw a craft online thing to put shells in a little box frame, so did that idea. The stone shell plaque was a GW find and also the shell basket, the seagulls are from Dollar Tree, and the little painting was done by one of my young grandson's. It was a school project, and he gave it to me afterwards. One of the new Trail of Painted Pony figurines I added to my collection this year happened to be the Sea Horse. If you look close, you can see the waves on him lool like 'horse heads'. and last but not least, this metal trivet or wall hanging from eBay. I loved all the detail on it. 2 seahorses, a lobster, and different kinds of shells....and Luvs, you'll crack up at this....ACORNS. Even the seller in her description was baffled by the intent of that in the design. Too funny! hugs, Karen

Ahhh, thank you, "holiday-ers"... Am glad you enjoyed the iron/wood wall hanging & the Mammoth sunflower... LOL at OA's comment: "Just a word of caution: If your sunflowers are tipping over, I wouldn't stand too near. Should you get clobbered by one, we may never hear from you again." Boy, that could be an embarassing "way to go!" LOL! Karen...thanks for posting that pic...it's one of my favs, too...Fall/Winter & cardinals just make awesome pics! I have made photo cards for many yrs & enjoy photography so much. What is so cool about photos is that you can "vignette" them...isolate an area & really see the beauty in something because you're not looking at the "big picture." Cause, believe me, my gardens & home have weeds, dust, crab grass, etc. etc. LOL! DH & I are both retired & woodworking is a hobby ...so, yes, there are many, many birdhouses around our acreage...but we also take them to Farmer's Mrkt. Life is good. Thanks, holiday-ers. Jeanne S.

Ciao Martin, I agree! One of the things I have come to love has been the changing of the seasons. I don't care much for the Ice and snow, but the crisp nights of fall and the colors, can't beat it. Its great to snuggle up with your significant other, or with a book or something warm to eat, especially the homemade soup, it is just marvelous watching the fireplace crack and the chilly breeze outside. I don't mind the heat of the summer, I just don't like the real humid days. I like a hot dry heat. The snowfall at about 38 degrees is nice. I just don't like those 20's and teens. I lived in the south for a few years, yes the weather was great, but it got downright smuthering at times. Take a bath and never dried off on a relatively consistent basis. I love the fig tree rituals every year now. its like clockwork. amazing how things change when you get older. Ciao
