Around the garden on June 14

Lots of pics today - we're still two weeks away from peak, but many of the EEs and E bloomers are in their glory.

Early perennials are showing off too. Here are a few garden shots from this weekend:

Looking back to fountain, you can see not many daylilies are blooming yet.

Some of the daylilies blooming are blue eyed ones like - BLUEBIRD BUTTERFLY:

I did a double take on BARN OWL, and had to check that the scape was coming from the correct clump! The bloom is larger and the color darker and more intense than I've ever seen it in the past 4 years. We've been in drought until this year, but lots of rain has changed the appearance of this one!

It took 3 tries (I'm stubborn) to get IN THE NAVY to live and grow here. It is finally a small clump. Doesn't have a spectacular bud count - I suspect it is at the edge of its Northern hardiness.

I love patterned daylilies. Here are a few that have been showing off. MARSEILLES WATERCOLOR:

Also have a weakness for green throats. Margo Reed's DANCES WITH GIRAFFES had FFO this morning:

The incredible ROSE F. KENNEDY leaves me weak-kneed!

And a couple of new ones to the garden - from the Rices, ARNETTE ZAPEL, a good purple:

First bloom on FRINGY - it had been beaten up by a rainstorm, so hope to get a better pic later this season:

First bloom on TALLADEGA - not the fire engine red I expected, but a rose red ( which is how Pat registered it.) However, it looks exactly like the blooms at Floyd Cove, so I suspect this is how it looks:

WATER DROPS had also been beaten up by a storm, so I hope it will look better later on:

Your gardens look so well-minicured and weed free - quite the opposite of mine. I love your blue eyed ones! Thanks for sharing your excellent photos.

Arlene - I bought DRAGON KING early on when I branched out from the pastels to the bolder colors a few years back.. I love it - consistently wonderful here and multiplies very quickly. Mona - we got some rain too..thank goodness. I know what you mean about the rain ruining the pollinating for the day but I was watering to keep the seed pods that are established nice and happy--so I was thrilled when Mother Nature took over that chore. Lrae- SHADES OF DARKNESS is stunning in a clump - IMHO anyway... It seems to bloom on and on and on.. shelly

Oh - ho!! Plenty of weeds are here for sure. It has really been a battle this year with all the rain! Plus the Dr. told me I couldn't lift ( anything over 10 lb) for 4 more weeks, which meant the garden didn't get mulched like it usually does. It has made keeping ahead of the weeds even more difficult than usual. But thanks for the comment anyway. I'm glad the weeds didn't show up in the pictures : -)

Ooops, I see a weed. Nope, just another flower ;-).

Spectacular photos and garden...your Talladega is much prettier than mine has been yet. I sure hope mine straightens up on it's rebloom! My fav of your dl closeups is DWG...such a beautiful spider.

You've lots of beauties I could add to my list, except I'm not supposed to be adding any more. Nevertheless, I'll have to make exceptions for RFK and AZ (because it's impossible to pass up a watermarked purple).

Well, I can't decide...either DANCES WITH GIRAFFES or ROSE F. KENNEDY is my favorite - I'd have to flip a coin to choose. Beautiful photos and your garden is an inspiration. Thanks for sharing -

Wow! I don't know how to pick a favorite from this group. They are all wonderful. I don't have any of the small patterned eye dl's.......yet. Now I definitely must get some! Love California Blues, Bluebird Butterfly, Water Drops, and RFK. All going on my wishlist. :)

All I can say is AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!! The gardens, the closeups and RFK is to die for. My best Fringy flower was the first but it got drowned in downpours. Thanks for posting pictures of your gardens and not just flowers.

Julie- Your gardens looks increadably lovely. I know you say you need to weed and mulch buit I can't see any flaws, just those gorgeouis flowers. Doesn't seem to matter what time of year it is, your garden always looks great.
