alder beetle anyone?

has anyone dealt with this particular beetle? I was walking thru the garden and on the edge of one of my pots was a big black shiny thing. the closer i got i noticed it was about 25-30 little beetles. so i took pictures and looked it up. it says in groups it can be a pest. well, i scooped up what i could and i just found a few more. this seems to be my beetle year. first the hollyhock weavil and now this. i am just thankful i havent got the cuke beetle again. that was a nightmare!! so if anyone has any more info on this i would appreciate it!!

Tanya, I know zip about bugs so I went searching. Ran across this very cool site that you can submit your pictures to and they will ID them for you. Your bug is listed there with two different photos. Right below it is the dreaded Japanese beetle. I have actually never seen a JB so now I've been enlightened thanks to your question.

Hi MeMo! what a cool website. i love bugs. the alder beetle I found doesnt look anything like the one you found. what we call a japanese beetle here doesnt look like the one on this site at all! isn't that wierd? we call the green beetles with black spots a japanese beetle which could be totally wrong! I found my alder beetle on Gardensafari.com under leaf beetles. you would probably like that site also. i bookmarked your bug site. they are so cool.

We bought two mahagony patio doors from eto. What i like about the doors is that they are solid mahogany w/ no veneers. The joinery is quality as well. We went to their site and picked our doors up and was able to pick and choose from a variety of inserts. We chose beveled panes. They were friendly and customer oriented. Great pricing as well.

kellyeng - wow those are really nice!! soonermagic - I just saw your door in your other thread! I have picked out the door! I gave the catalog back to the builder or I would scan it in and post it. It almost looks like teach 2007. To be honest, I am kind of forgetting what it looked like! LOL! I looked at soooo many. I do know there is 6 windows at the top of the door! LOL! Thanks! I'll have a look online if I could find a photo of an instar plant bug nymph. Earlier, I did already find an image showing the nymph stages of the 'kissing bug', and my bug (at least to me) looks a lot like the 2nd nymphal instar: http://www.wrdw.com/home/headlines/Health-officials-Deadly-kissing-bug-reported-in-Georgia-353134901.html But considering these should not normally exist in the UK (according to a quick google search, at least) I doubt it's the kissing bug! But still, there's a lot of similarities -- dark brown colour, tear-drop shaped body, fairly short antennae and dark orange legs. I think the biggest difference is, however, that kissing bugs don't have that anteanna-like snout that my bug has.

Maybe the earth's axis has tiltled a little . They say it does . quote" Today, the Earth's axis is tilted 23.5 degrees from the plane of its orbit around the sun. But this tiltchanges. During a cycle that averages about 40,000 years, the tilt of the axis varies between 22.1 and 24.5 degrees. " unquote They also say we are in for a complete polar reversal at some point too . Usually it is April and August when you see multitudes of falling stars. (aka meteorites ) It would possibly explain the shift in the weather patterns too.
