Recommend a variety or two?

I live in a suburb between Dallas and Fort Worth that is considered zone 8. I've always been a green when ripe fig fan, but this weekend had my first opportunity to taste a Panache Fig or Tiger Fig that was so good, I'm motivated to grow a fig tree or two. I would prefer to grow them in ground.

Does anyone know if the late ripening Panache fig will work in a long hot summer? Practically speaking, it is going to face in excess of 100 degree days, at least 30 days a year, sometimes many more. I would be grateful for any recommendations for a harsh climate like mine that are green when ripe figs. Thanks!
