Your lilac looks very nice pruned into a tree. I'd love to see another entire front shot since the fence is finished.

You can see at the left that the fence (near the juniper) still needs to continue down and to the right to meet the house. As soon as that car is out of the way...

Your house will look very lovely once your garden comes into place. Me, too, I love to see 'garden-in-progress' photos. It's so amazing how hard work can transform a patch of land into beautiful garden.

Every thing is coming together very nicely. The lilac looks great trimmed up that way....another plant you won't have to buy now.

Your husband did a super job on the fence.

Will you be able to plant anything between the fence and the street? It would look great to have a few low maintenance things here and there outside.

The lilac tree looks great and will screen a lot of the parking lot next door. I hope it rewards you with glorious bloom next year.

Does your property on the left side extend all the way to the utility pole? If so, a section of fence on that side of the drive way, maybe just turn the corner,
could make your garden look much, much larger. Even a vine pole, tuteur or other vertical structure also in white on the other side of the driveway would draw the eye,
instead of stopping at the awkward corner opposite.

Dropping back to the house corner to place a fence section would still show the viewer that your yard goes all the way across,
if you need the space beside the driveway for guest parking.

There is 5 feet between the fence and the road so I definitely want to plant a narrow strip of something there.

I think the property line is a couple feet from the driveway. We were planning to do something there just hadn't thought it out yet. It quickly goes down a hill from there into city land (designated hazardous due to flooding). It's pretty shady in that spot from all the trees.

Great progress. This is the hardest part, putting the 'hardscape' into place, but once you do, it will define your garden.

You are doing just great! The lilac looks nice trimmed and the fencing looks good enclosing your yard. Pretty soon you'll have all kinds of flowers overflowing and you'll just love your cottage garden. Keep having fun and keep posting pictures here for us to enjoy.

I enjoyed seeing all of your pictures. The new fence looks so sweet. How nice that you have such a nice big lilac already in your garden. In the spring it will give the whole yard a wonderful scent.

I wanted to suggest to your husband that he might consider adding some white picket shutters of some sort to the windows. They would really make the house seem brighter and would show off the brick on the face of your cute little cottage. You're doing a great job! Can't wait to see it with everything done and the plantings in place.

I have to replace the windows when we do the kitchen/bathroom renos (could be awhile). We were planning to put up shutters then. I don't know if it would be worthwhile to do it now as we will be expanding the size of the windows later.

Dh built the main part of the porch today. All he has to do now is build the steps and stain the whole thing.

We've had tons of birds bathing in the bare soil. They are so cute I think I'll have to leave them a bird bath filled with dirt once the flowers are all in.
