Be patient and check the ph of your soil.

What ph am I looking for? What direction does epsom salts take it?

My soil is towards the acidic, with all the pines (needles everywhere!) and oaks around. Top dressing with compost and sprinkling lime around specific plants (peonies, echinops, dianthus, clematis, etc) has helped.

What is the requirement for daylilies?

In one year I've gone from just stellas and orange ditch daylilies to 25 named (and gorgeous!) daylilies. Lots to learn here.

Daylilies like around 5.8 to 6.5 ph. I did some more reading and found out epsom salts won't change the ph, it is in the form that plants can use for growing. With that error corrected,I would still not apply it too often as Daylilies do well with fertilizing in spring and fall. They are not "heavy feeders".I have read where it can alter the tone of some "white" blooms.Search this forum for epsom salts and you will be able to read that. I have two wonderful whites (near white): White Temptation and Gentle Shepherd. Wouldn't want to do anything to alter them.

I will be patient now.
