They look gorgeous. Mine are the same age but not doing quite as well. Japanese Beetles don't really help. Mine are table grapes. I'm hoping to at least get enough for a snack this year.

MeMo!!! Thank you for posting a pic for me! I'm home alone and have no computer experience LOL!! I appreciate you so much! Again thank you my friend!! I thought everyone would love to see these grapes, and also know that we rarely give them water! It is so funny we always forget about the grapes, they have to be hand watered! so you all know the drought in Ca. on top of that we don't water these!??? We can not figure it out!! They must love where they are planted! I wish you could see it in person! Take care, kathee

ooops! Forgot to mention that grapes grow wild here. They can be a nuisance when they come up on fence lines or power lines etc. I watch them every year and try to get them when their ripe but it's futile. One day they aren't quite ready and the next the birds have already been at them. I swear that they just roost in the vines at night and then when they wake up in the morning they sniff the fruit for ripeness and then dig in! Little stinkers lol!

At Thanksgiving time when my kids come for the holiday we go out and collect the vines. Then we spend an evening making them into wreaths and things and decorate them for Christmas. They love giving them to co-workers and friends as holiday gifts.

If you're not inclined to make wine, you can always make grape juice (easier). If you're not much on canning, it can be poured into clean milk jugs and frozen. Don't fill too full as it will expand.

When I was a child, my mother always canned half gallons of grape juice to give to people who had any illness. I grew up believing that grape juice had some kind of medicinal properties.

Grape jam is very easy to make. Buy a package of Certo and follow the directions. I have never made freeze jam, just the cooked kind. My oldest two grands were about 8 and 11 before they realized you could buy jam at the grocery store. They thought all GM's made jam.
