This is a fabulous market . I only got a small percentage of the stalls in the pics. But I think it gives a good idea of the delicious offerings.

Those are the next best thing to growing one's own or having a veggie man who brings fresh to the door. I shelled peas until near midnight Saturday night, courtesy of my 75 y.o. neighbor who says he doesn't pick peas for anybody and then shows up with a hamper full.

We've seen markets in NY and NC this week. Has anybody been to Fisherman's Wharf to the markets lately?

That is one amazing DIY. You guys are so clever and creative! That soapstone is killing me -- I'm trying to touch that incredible vein through my monitor. Now I have to ask -- what is on the other side of the kitchen, beyond your angled wall and little table-n-chairs set? It looks like more chairs. What's that room, if I may ask? I love your trash can in your island. I love all of the clever ways you added space...the soap pullout, the angled tray cabinet, etc. Brilliant! Congrats -- enjoy it!

Well, good question mtn. We have three finished rooms in the basement, about 1100 sq feet total. We're not touching DH's office. He is happy with carpet. The other two rooms will be opened up to each other and will all have the same flooring, including adjacent bathroom. The big back room (25 x 27) is under the front of the house; behind the far wall is an 18" poured concrete foundation and earth beyond that. The room is perfectly ok year round--- cool in summer with a fan to stir the air--- and warm in winter with the gas fireplace. So I don't think we need it there. The front room (bottom of the stairs, has exterior wall w/ door to downstairs patio) gets cold. It already has a vent from the main HVAC but it's on the ceiling which is 9 ft In that room. I hate forced air heating and cooling anyway. We put in two ceramic wall heaters in That room that warm by convection current. They do a great job but they are now sort of invisible bc of furniture placement. Once we strip the room of everything except the planned daybed/sofas, they will be very noticeable. We've spent some time in Utah in winter and like the combination of underfloor heat and gas fireplaces, but all those floors were wood. So, as usual a long answer to a short question :-) We def need something in the front room at least and really need it in the bathroom. But the floor is SO rough... I don't know what to do. Russ -- regarding Boncels. I live south of Sarasota on the west coast, and there is at least one local grower who is selling Boncels here (through a local bromeliad shop), so keep looking out where you are. I bet some local grower will buy a few and start propagating and selling locally -- so you may find one at a local garden shop, farmers market or nursery (just not the BB stores). I have two of them now, one of which I bought very mature for $40 (yikes). But let me tell you what I have read -- and experienced. Most of these unusual Sans come out of Thailand; even on ebay, you can see unusual varieties that are selling from Thailand directly. I read that in Thailand, growers treat the Boncels with a retardant that keeps them small and cute -- and I'm guessing that's true. My mature plant has grown a lot in 6 months, including two brand new leaves (one leaf grew from nothing to about 8 inches in 6 months!) -- and they are not small anymore, now resembling large fan-shaped cylindrica. They are beautiful and I adore them -- but NO LONGER PETITE! For myself, I don't care. As long as they are healthy and happy, I love them all regardless of size. Hope you find one.

Selina Perry, I am actually not sure - we bought them with that color on the cabinets already. The color itself is a very warm and creamy white (more on the peach side vs green/blue if that helps). I would get a few sample whites and a sample piece of the countertop and paint a piece of cardboard (using the proper base coat + 2x coats of paint) and hold them up to the countertop sample. This has helped us choose the right whites in the past. Hope that helps! Also sorry for the extremely late reply laurennicoleholland, but the cabinet pulls/knobs I used are Richelieu BP790128 in Champagne Bronze finish. Highly recommend and they come in various lengths which was useful.

I picked gallons of fig this AM so am prepping them for fig preserves. I am off to NYC again , this time with DH in tow. We will be there for Aug 5-12. I will get more pics. Glad you enjoyed. c

Hi and welcome back from NYC. Glad you had a great time. Wish I could grow carrots like those. Everything looks so good. Have fun with your figs. I put up 21 pints last week and am finished.

Now THAT'S a market! At my little market, folks bring as many as eight or ten bunches of things and hope they sell them all. What a small town I live in, huh?

I will take pics tomorrow of our local TINY market. It is one x a week at Tuesday 3-6 PM. Very very small. We are in a drought again this year so we are lucky a few folks have good wells. We can all enjoy the comparison to NYC .

I will be back in NYC 8/2-8/12 so will definitely get more pics.
