Fig recipes and/or ideas

Hi all. I'm new to this site and was hoping for some suggestions. I have a HUGE fig tree that produces an insane amount of fruit every year. I have no clue what type of figs they are. They begin green and then turn a somewhat purplish color when ripe. They have to be picked as soon as they turn, otherwise they burst open at the end of the fruit. They are very large figs. For the 5 years I've lived in this house (the tree was pre-existing) I've allowed a family of racoons to eat most of the crop. I pick a few for myself and for friends, but the amount of figs it produces is too much to consume. I have two questions. Firstly, can anyone possibly tell me what type of fig tree this might be? Secondly, does anyone have or know where I could get some recipes to possibly preserve or use these figs each year? Thanks in advance. Tracey
