Soggy NorthEast weather and breba death

If last year's weather was bad for growing figs in the Northeast this year has started off even worse. The soggy mass of air that's been with us for the past week remains in place today for the seventh day of rain, as showers and thunderstorms are expected this morning and again this afternoon and tonight.

Today will be warmer than normal, with highs in the upper 60s. No relief is expected until Sunday.

My young container fig trees were loaded with breba. Most, if not all, have rotted and dropped off. Sal's(EL) seem to be the only one not affected by the wet. Although Sal's are young trees and only have a few breba, (2 to 4) they are now the size of a half dollar. Jack's Qtr.P. has retained its breba so far but they may rot too if conditions don't improve. It is sad to watch.

I wish the best for all of you in the Northeast that may be affected by this weather pattern and hope the Summer will improve.
