Are we allowed to talk about online plant stores? Forgive me if we're not.

I live in a rural area and I hate having to drive 40 minutes to the city just to get plants, especially in the summer. Our small town does have a sweet greenhouse, but it's limited.

Believe it or not, I've ordered a few things from QVC that have thrived here!

I recently had a horrible experience with an online plant store, Spring Hill. But there are more plants I want to buy and I know I won't be able to find them locally.

Is there a good online plant store which will ship IMMEDIATELY and not send me seedlings?

I use Santa Rosa Gardens in FL. Also Brushwood. They both send good sized plants that are very healthy and they mail immediately and quickly. Have very good rates.

You need to go to Dave's Garden Watchdog and look at the ratings before you ever order from anyone. They have every company known to man and you can see what folks have said. They also have the trusted 30 companies such as the 2 above and the ones in that group of 30 are mentioned on all the forums all the time...Brent and Becky and Chambliss etc. So there you have it. 30 very reliablle companies. c

I hate saying this cause this site has got me in trouble omw I just got off a spending spree. Have you tried ebay??

Mr.Jones [Fusion Power] upthread has selected tomato/bean seed, but the most astounding collection of heirloom & other tomato seedlings for sale by mail order at exceptional prices. Exceptional plants & packing. I am a very satisfied customer, not a shill!! So, not strictly a seed source, but those who want to try some rare/different varieties of tomatoes will find $40-50 the best investment. People get sticker stock but they end up spending more in potting mix, seed, XYZ, etc., before they get their assorted mix into the ground.

Derrickm, Try looking at Cyndi's Catalogs of Garden Catalogs. They have a Canadian only section but they also have sections for specifics such as aquatic gardening. I am always buying seeds from Thompson & Morgan and Cheap Seeds. They have always sent me what I wanted and they have good prices. I do a lot of winter sowing and need lots of seed to fill up my 5 acres. There are a few types of plants and trees that the state won't let you have shipped here from out of state, but most things are shipped without any problems.

I love love love Graceful Gardens!!!! Since you posted this on the Cottage Garden forum, I'm assuming you want cottage perennials? They are family owned and run a great business at awesome wholesale prices! The best part is what you find when your shipment arrives! Very healthy plants! No they wont be the mature size that you would get from your local place but they are great starter plants that are not just roots! I order from them every year and fully recommend them! There prices are far better for what you get when you compare them to the root senders. You can mix and match 32 plants into 8 varieties for $64.00!

I have just placed an order from High Country Gardens out of Santa Fe, NM. I looked at several sites, and they were one of the few places where I could find Mexican feather grass - plus, they had it on sale. They look to be pretty well rated by the Garden Watchdog site.

Thanks everyone! I've been to Dave's site many times but never noticed the watch dog part.

I called Spring Hill I was so angry and they're refunding my money, so that's good!

I swear I think once I ordered my plants, they put the seed in the pot and waited for it to sprout and then sent it to me! They are THAT small and tender! I couldn't believe it.

I also learned the hard way. I no longer order from a company unless I check the ratings on the Garden Watchdog.

I guess every company has it's "oops!". It took well over 3 months for me to get a complete order from Park Seed this year.
