Are you using the Riga foundation kit? If so, I can share the details on what we did with ours. We located where each corner was going to be and dug a concrete cinder block into the soil below each corner of the frame. The elevation should be such that the top of the frame is just a bit (2 inches?) above the soil line. Put the frame so that each corner rests on a cinder block. Check the level. Go to the highest corner and shave the dirt out below the cinder block. Repeat this process until things check out level. The cinder blocks under each corner should provide a firm and level place for the foundation. Getting the frame level is essential, as building it up will be next to impossible if it's not level and square. We took an additional step and dug a 16" trench underneath the foundation frame and put 4" thick styrofoam sheets in there. (Sort of like a deep, narrow moat filled with styrofoam) This gave us an insulated perimeter below the soil surface, which keeps the cold soil right outside the greenhouse from sucking the heat out of my warm soil inside the greenhouse. Happy digging! As you probably know, there are no shortcuts here, but the payoff is totally worth it. :)

Me too! I was out planting bare root Saskatoon bushes last night in the sauna. Knew the Oilers won when I heard all the car horns. Had to go back in and cover up as I was a feast for the squitoes. All this while sick as a dog. Got my shipment of 11 roses from Cedar Hollow Rose Farm yesterday too and will let them aclimatize while I figure just where I'll put them. Put my veggie garden in a week ago and a strawberry patch and this past weekend built a new bed for herbs. Picked up a few annuals today for my pots but ran out of steam after I got one for the front porch done(company coming tomorrow). I was out to Greenland early in May and got a few shrubs to fill in around my deck and was a very bad girl and bought some of those cheap $13!!! evergreens and shrubs at Costco. I can't argue with those prices. So I've been planting (and spending) like a mad fool but between what I started from seed I think I may actually be done by June 1. Then the plan is to just sit back and enjoy it all. Kate

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I'm totally ready to deal with H. imbricata...I cut a 5' dead branch out of my Maple tree today....I covered it with coco-fibre, tying it with garden twine. When the plants arrive, I'll attach the imbricata to the coco-fibre with the same garden twine and place the entire 5' branch, with plant attached, in my Yucca pot...facing the west window. Then it'll be easy to spray the plant as often as needed. I do not like the idea of a terrarium...I tried it before using a 10 gallon fishtank...it was too difficult and there's not enough light...plus, it's in my house, where I keep the thermostats at 58 degrees during the winter. I believe the plant will do fine in my sunroom where the humidity is maintained at a minimum of 70% during the winter, and much, much higher in the summer...plus the temperatures are significantly higher than I keep my house. I have a worrisome feeling that the transit time will be similar with the $41 shipping cost and the $7.50 shipping cost. I'm confident that I'll receive both packages by Christmas...perfect for me, cause, when I receive a package of hoyas, I'm just like a "kid on Christmas morning"! Freezing, unless you have the space and your food supply is greater than the demand, is also unnecessary. What I do is I usually let it sit out in the backyard in a sealed bucket for a week or two before I dump it in the bin. Also, if you are able to do it, a vermicomposting system in conjunction with Black soldier fly larvae works miracles. For the longest time, when my bin was just starting out, the food was just sitting there, but after I grabbed a handful of BSFL from my backyard hot compost and stuck it in my bin, it was like steroids for worms. The food supply that was there for months was almost gone in a week or two, and the worm population exploded
