can't post an image

I can't seem to post an impage here and thats a shame.

I have a few nice pics of a rather large fig in Colonial Williamsburg Va. and some pics of Figs at Montecello that I took late last Summer.

I have used a lot of forums over the years for stocks and such and am a member one one now that I can actually use.

I have been reading the fig forum off and on for a year or so and decided that I had something to add: a few pics, and its just not working for me.

This is so disappointing to say the least.

I have tried to use the test forum for images and tonight it doesn't reject my image as usual...tonight it does nothing at all. I have downloaded "IrfanView" as suggested and I have one thing to say: what a compicated useless mess! Its worth exactly what I paid for it which is nothing. I am debating if it is worth the effort to hunt it down and fully remove it from my computer.

I have an HP image program and I should have just stuck with that.It works. I have used to creat an avitar with limited image size requirements on anther forum.

When I reduce the size of my fig pic I take it down to something not worth posting and its still rejected.

I'm giving up.

Following are instructions on posting an image using an imaging hosting service called Photobucket. These instructions were posted by a member of the forum several years ago, but still work.

To post your pix within your message (you can do more than 1 at a time this way--but I would suggest making pix a bit smaller--for some it takes a lonnnng time to load):
An easy way is to use a photo-hosting site. One I like to use is called Photobucket. If you use it, here are some instructions I've posted at another forum. It's not as detailed as it could be, but it'll get you started. No worry about kbs this way.
Go to photobucket.com.
Set up an account. Upload your pix there.
Below each pic are 3 URLs for you to use.
Click on (highlight) the middle one (2nd one, says TAG-starts with "img src") & right click mouse -click on Copy.
Come back here. Write your post. After you type whatever info you want to give us, (put cursor in message box 1st) right click your mouse & Paste URL into message box (not the Optional Link URL box).
Click Preview --you should see your pic. If so, click Submit button. If not, go back & be sure you copied entire URL.
(It's easier if you open a 2nd browser window & go bk & forth between GW & Potobucket.)
Depending on what settings you used for your camera, you may/may not want to resize at Photobucket. There is that option too. Try it out & see how large you want it to show up.
This way you are not limited to the 60k upload limit here, but keep in mind larger pix load slower for many people & irritates some. :P
The site mentioned above is free but accepts donations for their wonderful service.

I'm going to try this when I dig up the pics of Monticello figs.

They are very small. I'm stumped. They sting when bitten and itch afterwards but not like I've read about noseeums. Maybe we don't have the same reaction that some people have but we are bitten at least 10 times a day and more if we are out most of the night. I have no idea what else they could be. I did try three times to change the subject of the message and still for some reason was unable to reply to the other post though.

That is weird! It is the same way for me... no place to post a reply! I agree with you Patti about not being happy if the phone rang at 6:30 am. My BIL sometimes calls for my DH very early.. then I'm awake for the rest of the day. I don't usually get up till 8:00 and I'm one of those people who don't function well if I don't get my sleep.

Oh thanks Kudzu9, but you don't need to bump this unless it is happening to others and you want an answer. My post eventually got posted. It was weird though, my post wouldn't show up for a long time, like over 10 minutes. I kept trying to post it, and it would keep disappearing. I don't know why, so I posted this thread to ask if anyone knew what was going on. Its not an issue now, but it has happened before to me and it is strange.

I have no idea what they could be, Ken, but your written description is as good as I’ve ever seen on these forums. They are almost identical, but yet you cannot find anything similar in search engine images. They came from a local wholesaler, but you have not seen anything close to them in the area. What a conundrum! Do you have any contacts at the nursery you obtained them from who might stop out and take a look? There has got to be a way to solve this riddle.
