My blog is on my mind all the time right now, because I have been unable to post on it for a while. I have either been gone, or I have been covered up with extra-curricular activities, like getting the DGD off to Germany, or working all this past week at the EXtension office, or maybe taking the last two days to empty our pond and clean it. I never seem to have time!

That has to change! My blog is something I do just for me, and I love doing it. I have so much stuff to post now, I am kind of overwhelmed with it.

Nell's blog, "Secrets of a Seed Scatterer" is one of the best blogs anywhere. She not only shares pics of her gardens, she has a ton of good educational materials on her blog! I learn something everytime I go there!

Mine is more a record of what I'm doing or what is blooming and how things are growing. My thoughts from that day are recorded for me, and others. I read other blogs, but I've gotten to where I rarely comment unless it's something that really strikes me as interesting. Not to say I don't find them interesting, but I just don't always have something to say to the blogger or their audience.

Of the blogs I read, the one thing I wish were more visible would be their location. At least a zone, or a state. They might mention it once in a while in their posts, but I tend to forget who is who and where they are.

I am so computer challenged, A blog is out of the question for me, I don't even leave messages on the blogs I visit for fear I'll screw something up. If I didn't have DH to fix the messes I get myself into......LOL.
DH has done a couple of slideshows for me and I might have a web page in the future similar to Libby's but until then I just fumble along.
I'm still at the stage where I ask DH what I have to do to make this or that thingy work. The terminology is all greek to me. I have my own terminology for things, like bluing out things and moving them around (watch it, I can hear you all laughing from here), I'm getting really good with the apple key, c and v keys. Even emails, I'm so proud of myself I can now insert pics from my photo album into an email all by myself, but at times I hit the wrong key and even screw those up. I'm right up there with all the 2 year olds now and quite proud of myself. My system I'm sure has DH pulling his hair out but hey, it works for me.

Just thought I'd give you all your laugh for the day. I am slowly learning, I did say SLOWLY and I've learned over the years if you can laugh at yourself, at your limitations it's so less stressful, most people understand and except, those that don't well, they really don't matter.

I really enjoy the Blogs. Didn't know Remy had one; have to thank Nell for pointing that out in another thread.

I have thought about doing one, but I do a daily gardening journal and that serves my purpose pretty well because I can make notes about the milk cow, kittens, trips to town, the farm, etc. and some non-gardening related things. Not real sure I would want public access to it. The good thing for me to have a blog would be that I could actually read it! Sometimes I have to decipher my writing.
I also worry that it would be too time consuming and that I can't figure out how to do it!

I didn't know who all had Blogs from Cottage Forum. I need to check them out.

Annette, you don't really think the rest of us sprang from the womb possessing computer proficiency, do you? Some of us have been practicing longer, but we all have stories of things like wiping the hard drive -- it wasn't enough that I did it, 'way back then, DH came along behind me and did it again! For a long time, 'format' was not mentioned around here, and nobody was allowed to click on that word.

I read the blog of a schoolteacher recently who talked about how she worked through from knowing the basics, to learning a bunch of bells and whistles that she thought were so 'kewl' that she put ALL of them on her web sites and then worked her way back to basics so that content was foremost on her blog rather than little cursors and the like that swirled around blinking and waving and distracting.

A web site for your pics is a great idea. Daily or weekly blogging is fun for both writers and readers.

LOL. Nell, I consider myself to be very computer literate, and I still managed to format a storage drive once. It had photos from several years, lots of collected program install files, word documents, addresses, emails, etc. That's the worst feeling in the world. I lost all of it. I now make backups every month using a little thumb drive that is removed from the USB port right after saving it.

All I have is a Facebook page. It has an album of pictures of my old garden in it. Once we buy a house, I might start a blog, just for myself. It's going to be interesting to see what comes up in our new garden. We just started actually looking, we have a couple of candidates, but nothing we want to make an offer on yet. No Wow! house. The garden is going to be a BIG factor in what we pick.

Annette, I fought against even having a computer for years. Then I got elected to be secretary of a group I belonged to, and I had to have one.

I didn't even know how to turn it on, and what is worse, I didn't know how to turn it off! I cold booted it for about 3 weeks before I learned how to shut it down.

Blogspot is so simple, I don't think you can go wrong. I don't know what I did before I had a computer.

Kind of like "What did I do before I gardened?"

I do find having a blog so much fun. I also think Blogspot is the easiest site to work with, and it really is hard to mess it up. Guess what............... even if you do mess it up, you can't hurt anything and can just go back and redo it. EASY EASY EASY. Also, if you don't list your blog somewhere or give your website URL to someone, it is not something the public will be flocking to for reading. I use mine as a gardening blog and a personal journal. I have it book marked or I couldn't even find it!!!!!!!!! So go to Blogspot and give it a try. It really is a wonderful part of my day and great to look back on for info and photos I have posted there.

I've been blogging so much that I'm just blogged out!

I basically have gotten tired of writing about my own garden. How many times can I write about deer, agastache, salvia and nepeta? How many times can I post photos of the same flower beds in my garden? I'm so bored with talking about my own garden! LOL

If I'm going to blog, I want to blog about something other than my garden. I try to keep myself interested in the blogging by including "garden inspirations" from other folks or places, garden-related travel and/or about public gardens or garden nurseries.

My blog has been around for several years now and there are so many readers that I'm keeping it going for now. Which means it feels more like WORK rather than fun these days.

When I started my blog, the goal was to post something every day. It's tough during the winter especially. Wintersowing and creating new beds helped a lot. This year, it's been nonstop and some days I post more than once a day. I've already been going back through posts from when I started the blog. It's great to know what I was thinking and why.

Tomorrow, I'll start a new tag. It'll be something that only makes sense to me, but it will be used to find all those posts where I made plans to do something and forgot about it. I do that a lot.

You can do a blog! I figured it out. That's why I started in November. I had all winter to make mistakes, lol.
I am a computer idiot. I remember the time some program said to click anywhere on the desktop. Now I'm not completely stupid. I knew it didn't mean the actual desktop, lol, but I'm like what is the desktop? So I ask my husband. He of course is in another room saying just click anywhere. I'm yelling back anywhere where? Lol. He comes to the room and explains the whole computer screen background is the desktop. Well that's a stupid name, lol.

I don't post every day. I try not to let it go too long between posts. At first I felt bad when I would miss posting at the appropriate time of a certain plant. I now realize, I can't post everything and it will give me something different to post about during the winter, next year or some subseqent year.
My blog though is really a photoblog. I don't write much. I take a lot of photos and try to pick ones that I think people will enjoy seeing.

I use Blogger/Blogspot which I find very easy. I have Wordpress for my business site, and it is not as easy for me. But we are all different in how we figure things out. That's what keeps things interesting : )

For those of you wanting to get started and not knowing how (or fearing you are not computer-literate enough) - I heartily recommend just checking out Blogger.com or WordPress.com. You can sign up on these sites for a free blog, and have your first post up in minutes. The principles are the same as starting threads and commenting here on the forum - really! :)

I've been slacking in the blog department. We have so many huge projects on the go and the season has been slow to start this year.

Hopefully July will be better for blogging.
