Russian Sage - too late to cut back?

Hi. I'm a new poster and novice gardener with a question about Russian Sage. I just transplanted a large 2-year old one from my mother's house, not realizing how deep and established the roots would be. Now that it's in the ground at my house, it's drooping. What's the best way to ensure it survives but also looks it's best this year? Is it too late to cut it back now that it's mid-June? I live in MD, so it's already begun flowering and is pretty large, about 3 feet.

Thanks for any advice.
